I’d like to take my mom’s middle and maiden name when I legally change it. But my mom is dodging using my name. Most recently she used my dead name. Now she just dodges. She’s a liberal.

Sorta relatable. In my case, I was given my first name because its really similar to my mom's name and I don't intend on changing it currently. OTOH, I'm not really out to my mom because she can be transphobic at times and when I did try to come out sorta, she just thought I was joking.

I'm sorry that you are experiencing that too. The skeptical silence from liberals is just as hurtful as the silence from transphobes.

My mom is a conservative who only doesn't vote republican because they're too homophobic (and she's a lesbian). Like, she used to listen to Limbaugh on her commute to work, etc.
