From my understanding a lot of the modern lore stuff they put out has lost the point that it was supposed to be satire, and now they depict the space marines and the empire as just straight up good guys. But yeah, the stuff is very compelling once you start to get into it more.
I remember some chud trying to argue that the Empire isnt actually a fascist-theocracy but Communist one instead
