Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful. Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Man sets himself on fire in front of Donald Trump trial courthouse

According to the New York Times, the man was in Collect Pond Park, which is opposite the courthouse, in an area intended for Trump supporters when he threw flammable liquid on his body and set himself on fire.

I really hope this person didn't self-immolate because orange man bad

this is completely incoherent and what happens if you haven't read a book in 20 years, but it's no more incoherent than the political beliefs of many Westerners. I could find the liberal version of this dude on Reddit in 30 seconds of searching

to save anybody else the read (though it's not that long), it's essentially: "cryptocurrency bad and will cause The Apocalypse, capitalism bad, American government bad and both Dems and Republicans are the same and we're ruled by kleptocracy, climate change, AI, and coronavirus will kill us all (but are also exaggerated and they won't actually kill us all? idk), everything is a death cult, the billionaires are destroying the American Dream and that's bad, various media most especially the Simpsons is propagandizing bad values into people, leftists think cops are bad which is against leftist theory (???)"

if you took out about 20% of the worst parts of the manifesto and tidied it up from the mess that it is, it would be indistinguishable from a rather unread leftist with unexamined brainworms. he hyperfocuses on cryptocurrency as like, this massive con that when it bursts, every billionaire will start putting sacks of money into their private jets and leave America burning, when in reality it's just rich people profiteering method #428432.

I can feel the corkboard in his brain putting strings between big names. He does that thing where he's like "Oh, and THIS GUY? Guess what, in 2018 he and THIS OTHER GUY both attended a conference and each other's weddings. THIS OTHER GUY joined a consultancy connected to the think tank hosted by YET ANOTHER GUY." and so on, and I just wanna say to him: dude, yeah, it's called a capitalist/bourgeoisie class for a reason, they were all in the same classes at Harvard or whatever the fuck, they start being ghoulish at age 20 and we hear about them dismantling a Latin American economy or spearheading the IMF's efforts to cure poverty by sticking South East Asian peasants into blenders until they die at age 142.

a liberal wouldn't say that the Democrats and Republicans are the same, that's reserved for cranks who are beginning to understand politics but are allergic to the theory that would solve their many questions and hangups, or socialists who have read that theory

he does call out Trump as being bad as well though, so who knows really

[-] newmou@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I don’t think a lib would light themselves on fire. They don’t actually believe in anything they would deem worthy of sacrificing themselves over. But they’re more than willing to sacrifice others over it lol

[-] assyrian@hexbear.net 33 points 2 years ago

this is my first time reading one of these screeds. I've never heard of an anti-crypto crank before. this is a very dumb person who would have benefited a lot from just reading theory.

[-] Rojo27@hexbear.net 35 points 2 years ago

Classic American conspiracy theorist. On the cusp of getting it, but at the last second veers to the most unhinged conclusion possible.

[-] assyrian@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago

I don't even know what the hell he was calling for. government bad, stop watching media and The Simpsons? is that it?

[-] Rojo27@hexbear.net 24 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Interestingly he does call out that capitalism is unsustainable and that capitalists know it, but his laser focus on crypto currency takes away from that message.

There also that weird line about how leftists say ACAB and how somehow it contradicts leftist theory... but like how? I can only think that his idea of leftist theory is "government does stuff" therefore protesting against an arm of the government is not leftist? Yet his entire screed is about how the government is bad...

IDK, I think I'm trying to make too much sense out of this nonsense since I'm bored at work lol.

[-] Zuzak@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago

There's zero explanation of what setting himself on fire was supposed to accomplish (from what I saw).

[-] charly4994@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

Can confirm, in high school I was a classic American conspiracy theorist, came to the conclusion that the US government was the largest terrorist organization in the world and then didn't know what to do from there. But also maybe aliens are involved.

[-] Commiejones@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago

Its not too late! He's in critical condition and will likely have lots of down time in the psych ward. Maybe someone in the area could go drop off a book or two for him when he is a bit better?

[-] charly4994@hexbear.net 27 points 2 years ago

Why is Stanley Kubrick’s comedy about mutually assured destruction called Dr. Strangelove: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb? Because he was a cocky secret fascist who was getting us to stop worrying and love the bomb. Why did he make A Clockwork Orange? So we’d rejoice at ultra-violence designed to desensitize us to the horrors of the world.

I love this new trend of ignoring the majority of the work and just kinda going off vibes from the title or first 5 minutes.

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 30 points 2 years ago

sounds like he may have self-immolated because orange man good

[-] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 27 points 2 years ago

Based on the dude's reddit, it seems like orange man was only tangentially related to the model of the world this individual had constructed which motivated the self immolation.

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago

So why did he chose to immolate at the Trump trial? Just for attention?

[-] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 20 points 2 years ago

Probably part of it. He does think Trump and Biden are in kahoots as kleptocrats and democracy is a sham, I cba to read his manifesto to verify how Trump fits into things.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
