When I mean “specific,” I mean things like something dedicated to a certain genre, a certain video game, to gaming suggestions, to asking whether you should buy a certain game… anything that isn’t just one catch-all for any video gaming topic. So I’m not including the various !games@instance or !gaming@instance links.

I know about the following and will be adding to this list with links people comment with:

Can always go to one of the many instances that defederated them. Not like there's account-wide upvote points to lose or anything. (genuine suggestion)

No, he's saying that the product is ineffective at what it aims to do.

Oh 100%. None of them authentically believe in the message of either song, and even Oliver Anthony can realize that despite the money they're bringing in.

I saw someone the other day conclude he was probably a conservative plant, and i think there's some truth to that, but I doubt he actually knew about it. Unfortunately though, he runs into a similar issue that a lot of poor conservatives do, thinking that those with even less than them are stealing from them their crumbs, but unlike them he also acknowledges that we only get crumbs in the first place.

Every time these conservatives start using someone's music, it seems to always turn out that the artists actually really heavily oppose them. Funny how that is.

It's a regulatory body for psychologists in Ontario Canada. All Psychologists must be registered with them to be licensed.

that would be covered by the 1st amendment in the US

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.[4]

This only covers what speech congress may abridge. Nothing of your employers or other entities. It would be different if your employer could send you to prison over your speech, but that's not the reality.

Can we not spam advertise our communities? TY

Mine is simply a more specific example of the “there is no ethical consumption under capitalism” argument that has been repeated here many times.

You mean the argument saying we cannot fix the system without abolishing the system? You're using it to instead justify the inequities of the system and henceforth ignoring them because you completely missed the point of the phrase?

Like gravity is a theory. Or germs are a theory.

Nobody owns the fediverse. It's just a network of networks that are interoperable.

Nobody owns Lemmy. It's just a type of Fediverse software that's maintained by @[email protected] and @[email protected].

Your admins own your instance. You can find their names on the front page side-bar. For lemmy.ca it's @smorks and @crb. They're the ones who have the most control over your experience. It's best to get a feel for if their interests and values align with yours, and if you can trust them to help curate your experience. They may defederate from communities you may or may not dislike. They may remove users you may or may not find harmful. They may refuse to take such actions as well where you think it would be appropriate.

If they don't align with you, there's other instances you can join that may better align with you. Or you can even self-host if you have the technical ability and want a more custom experience.

They don't know the keys on G2A and the like unless they buy them themselves. And these unauthorized key sellers aren't in the business to cooperate with them, since the money laundering is their bread and butter.
