I've worked mostly in the restaurant/service industry, so i'm most likely going to apply for jobs in that field, but I'd really like to try something else because the amount of socializing I have to do is dreadful for me

for the past two years i've been fortunate enough to have my parents support me, but i haven't been going to school during this time either, i really haven't done anything in that time that i could put down on my resume, so yeah i may just have to lie and say that i've been attending school.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

i don't, unfortunately :(

could anyone give me any advice as to how to create a new resume? i'm having a lot of trouble with doing so because i have a very rough history with jobs ( quitting without notice many times when i was much younger ) and also because i've been unemployed for 2 years now. I know that lying is something i'm going to have to do to make myself seem more employable and so i don't get heavily interrogated, but i really just don't know how to fill in the gaps without making it seem suspicious. I'm not very good at lying and i'm autistic so all of this has been very difficult for me. i'd love to know if any of you have been in the same place as me and if so, what you did. any advice would be much appreciated! heart-sickle

I think a large part, as others have said, is to collect physical media, but another large reason could be because people want to support the artists they listen to by actually buying their music. Streaming services are the most popular way to listen to music now and they are so fucking awful when it comes to compensating artists that most of them cannot even come close to relying on them for a stable income, even when you take in to consideration streaming on multiple platforms. So doing things like buying a record or a CD or even just buying an album digitally on a site like bandcamp does a lot more for the artists that you enjoy because they receive a much larger fraction of that money. Also, doing things like buying merch and going to shows are other good ways of supporting the artists you love!

these are the type of videos that the US is so desperately trying to stop us from seeing by banning tiktok, smh /s

this video is actually very adorable though and I kinda wish she was my grandma

yeah you're right, it's reasonable to feel anxious and want to move away from them in case of an accident, the response of him recording himself screaming and spraying mace at them as if he was about to capture his death on film though is just a bit silly

watching this video only made the reaction of the man in the video I posted look even more ridiculous, lol. cows really are just curious creatures, I'm not sure why someone would think that a swarm of cows would approach you because they want to collectively kill you or beat the shit out of you or something

I haven't seen Earthlings since before I became vegan which was a long time ago and im not sure if I'll ever be able to watch it again because it really is so difficult to get through, but yeah it does shine a light on a lot of the bullshit that is regurgitated by carnists

yeah it's silly, I think it's just a poor attempt to make themselves feel better about how awful the animal agriculture industry is, especially since these people don't usually want to put an end to the meat industry that provides them with their leather, they just want "better conditions" for the animals being slaughtered or to replace slaughterhouses with "happy humane family farms" that allow animals to frolic around before they're sent to their death. the other extremely common argument for the usage of leather is that it lasts a very long time so as long as you use it for life it's sustainable, or people will also try to hold on to using leather products by buying second hand because you're not directly supporting the leather industry. but of course we still shouldn't be wearing the skins of butchered animals and by continuing to do so we're signaling to others that's it's morally permissable and that animals are still just commodities/objects to be worn

One of the most common talking points that I hear from people who are advocates of leather, especially those who work within fashion, is that leather is simply a byproduct of the meat industry. The claim that it is simply a by-product of the animal agriculture industry is used as their justification to buy leather products because they think that they're just the waste of the meat industry and that they are up-cycling material that would otherwise be thrown away. What these proponents of leather never address though is that these so called "by-products" are just another way in which the meat industry profits and that leather would not exist in the first place if it weren't for the raising and butchering of animals! Like I am genuinely baffled that people believe that the meat industry doesn't proliferate its existence through the selling of things like animal skin and the other remains that aren't flesh. Of course this doesn't even touch on the environmental impact required to produce leather, which includes that of the meat industry that raises the animals (which has a horrific impact already) plus the additional awful production practices like chrome tanning that are extremely common in the leather making process.

Also, a thing that especially irritates me in the TikTok video that I linked is the creator equating faux leather with plastic leather or pleather, when faux leather encompasses more than just pleather and contains leather alternatives that aren't made from plastic! That seems like something you should know as someone whose job requires a large knowledge of textiles/materials but I guess he for whatever reason doesn't know that or at least doesn't mention it

genuinely curious, are there any other sources for this? I've tried to find other news outlets covering this and I can't find anything whatsoever

edit: the author of this article, Stephen Bryen, also made this a post on his substack and within the comment section of the post he cites some sources from twitter and Russian media that report the supposed deployment of these French Foreign Legionnaires as early as April 12th.

https://weapons.substack.com/p/france-sends-troops-to-ukraine/comment/55480014?utm_campaign=comment-list-share-cta&utm_medium=web&triedRedirect=true

From one of the Russian sources cited in his comment ( https://en.topwar.ru/240367-rossijskie-resursy-pervoe-podrazdelenie-francuzskogo-inostrannogo-legiona-perebrosheno-v-slavjansk.html ) , they say:

-The first French military arrived in Ukraine; a unit from the French Foreign Legion was transferred to the Slavyansk area. This was reported by the Russian TG channel "Military Chronicle".

According to available information, a unit of one hundred people from the 3rd Infantry Regiment of the French Foreign Legion was transferred to Slavyansk. Apparently, this is the advance group that the rest will follow. The French military appeared in the city the day before; they are based at the location of the 54th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and move around the city only accompanied by the Ukrainian military.

The unit reportedly includes artillery reconnaissance specialists, as well as an engineering group specializing in fortification and field fortifications. Most likely, the French will build up the defense of Slavyansk in case of a breakthrough by Russian troops.

Military correspondent Yuri Kotenok also reports this; he talks about the transfer of the first units of French mercenaries to the Slavyansk area. According to him, they arrived at the disposal of the 7th Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and not the 54th, but these are already details. However, he clarifies that the information is unconfirmed.

"We are talking about an engineering group and specialists aviation reconnaissance of the 3rd infantry regiment of the legion, which arrived at the location of the 7th ombre of the Ukrainian Armed Forces"

  • writes Kitten in his TG channel.

the kirkhammer from Bloodborne is one of my favorites! pretty much all of the weapons in Bloodborne are all-around fantastic but the kirkhammer specifically is the one I had the most fun with and I love it's design
