As much as I dislike Joe Biden he did actually do a good job there of making sure the workers got their demands without having to strike. The union even ended up thanking him for it a while after all the media attention died down on it.

He's realizing what all of the other rich people have already realized, its easier to just manipulate things from the background so people won't get mad at you.

They reserve the clever loop holes and actual fighting for when they want to stop progressives from having power in the party.

“It won’t be long before Democrats are back in the driver’s seat again,” Padilla added. “When that happens, all bets will be off. Every agency action that Democrats don’t like — whether it’s a rule or not — will be fair game, from mining permits and fossil fuel projects to foreign affairs and tax policies.”

Yeah I'll believe it when I see it, I have zero faith in Democrats taking advantage of this expansion of power to do any good

I mean it's not just file format problems as well. It's also the fact that generally you'll need a professional license for whatever software you're using since you're not using it for personal use and it's probably cheaper and easier to buy a ton of licenses from one company then splitting it between different companies based on what people want. There's also the fact that especially for bigger companies they'll have custom tools and templates already made that work in that software. Some of that is file format for things like templates but any custom scripts or tools would probably have to be rewritten to support other types of creative tools. Plus at the end of the day it's just easier if all of your employees are using the same tools so they can collaborate easier and ask for help on things easier.

I wouldn't be surprised if at this point with the prices they charge, most of Adobe's users are either working somewhere that has it, or are students who want to work professionally with it, or are people in between jobs who need to keep up skills in it for when they can go back to work. Most anyone I talk to who isn't doing things professionally and doesn't plan to go professional will use something like Gimp instead of Photoshop if cost is an issue.

Outside of this though there's also just the fact that it being the industry standard does tend to cause non-professionals to use it too. Whether it be because they view it as better then the alternatives, or they want to get experience in case they ever want to use it professionally, or they just haven't heard of anything else and the tutorials they were able to find for what they wanted to do used Adobe products.

Either way though I bet that the majority of the money Adobe makes is from companies buying tons of pro licenses rather than from individual people using it.

It's not even about dumbing down, it's about presenting the information in an engaging and at least slightly entertaining way. People will watch hours long YouTube video going in depth on topics because those people know how to give the info in an engaging way. Experts either need to pick up those skills or start working with people who already have them. Because the people spreading disinformation focus a lot more on communications since they don't have to do any real research behind their positions, they just have to focus on selling it.

Either that or they need to start hiring communications people and taking their advice. And not just like the PR speak communications people but people who have experience with creating something engaging and potentially entertaining as well that can then be merged with the educational message you're trying to spread. Otherwise people on the other side are gonna focus on spinning their lies in a creative and engaging way and you'll never win people over.

With Obama they just learned how to take a somewhat progressive candidates and bend them into a moderate. It's the same thing that happened with Kamala, although of course it's hard to say if either were ever really progressive or if they just used that for votes and didn't mind discarding it once they got pressured by the party and consultants.

If we ever get another president after Trump they need to abolish ICE. It's pretty clear at this point that the organizations vague ability to skirt the Constitution is a loaded gun for authoritarians to use to go after their enemies.

You might be better off looking into something like the Socialist Riffle Association and if they have a chapter in your area. No idea how good they are but I'm in the DSA and some people mention them as an option.

They definitely want to make those prisons into essentially a pit they can throw people into to never return. That way they can do whatever they want to the people there and no one will really be able to say for sure what is happening.
