Principal Skinner is lovable and charming though...

We went to Dotonbori and Kabukicho last time I went to Japan, and we were surprised at how close it was, Especially kabukicho

The fun thing about Yakuza to me, is that the map kind of becomes its own character. I love going around Kamurocho and doing various side missions. I'd say that since the map is also very small, it allows for that kind of intimate "get to know the map and watch it grow with each game"-vibe.

(Crossposted from !furry@pawb.social) I came across this comic on Bluesky. It's about a sea lion who gets lost and finds a helpful family of dogs. I've read it three times now, the artist is really good at expressions 😭

I have no idea if this is the place to post full comics, but I came across this on Bluesky (the comic itself is hosted on Globalcomix) and thought it was beautiful. It's about a sea lion who gets lost and finds a helpful family of dogs.

I love the series (the first four at least), and I was wondering how you guys thought HoMM IV holds up in comparison. It IS pretty different, but I personally find that I like it a lot, despite it being so different.

Nobody is probably going to care, but I just had a realization.

I am the kind of person who has always appreciated a good laugh, so I used to frequent old meme sites. Some years ago, I would've been wondering why this comic implies these women are transfem when the ✨✨L O R E✨✨ doesn't say any of this.

Due to the aforementioned meme sites, I might have also been a little annoyed at this as well, because on those meme sites, that seemed to be the prevalent take.

It's been a while, but I remember gamergate being a turning point for me. I started realizing that... Huh... These people actually fucking suck, and I got out of those areas.

I came across this comic while checking out /c/all, and.. well... That's when the realization hit.

First thought: "I don't remember any of these women being trans in the ✨✨L O R E✨✨, but who cares? I learned about gels being a thing, and the Bowsette point is actually pretty funny. Wow, it really doesn't matter (nor ever should have mattered) how these characters are represented in fan comics."

...

Second thought: "Man, I'm so happy you guys get to share stuff like this. Y'all are brave and I'm really glad you're getting the possibility of being yourselves! It's something a lot of people take for granted!"

You guys rule. Don't let anyone stop you from enjoying yourselves and just... existing as yourselves.

It's been at least 10 years since I reached the point where I admire your bravery instead of thinking it was... I don't even know?? Attention seeking?? It was a completely irrational narrative being pushed on those sites, but once I got out, started thinking a bit for myself, I saw how destructive that was.

Seeing this comic just gave such a stark reminder of the difference a decade can do on a person, so... Thank you for letting me compare and contrast.

GPU questions (pawb.social)
submitted 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) by Focal@pawb.social to c/linuxfurs@pawb.social

Hi y'all! I've been using Nvidia GPUs for about all my life, but have been hearing how AMD usually plays nicer with Linux.

I'm somewhat new to this OS and all the distros, and I was wondering if you could help me with understanding some of the differences.

I currently have a 4080 from Nvidia, and I use it for both content creation and gaming. Back when I was picking out my new GPU, I wanted to pick the 7900 XTX from AMD, but I was on windows back then and the two GPUs were the exact same price in my region, so I figured I might as well pick that.

Fast forward to today and I am noticing that the 4080 is struggling a bit with games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. (I'm getting forty fps on medium/high settings with 1440p) and I see some people suggest it is because of the translation overhead of Nvidia via Proton, and that this would be reduced with AMDs GPUs, but I'm not entirely sure how much there is to gain here, really.

So.. TL:DR; What is gained and what is lost if I were to sell the 4080 and switch to AMDs 7900XTX or 9070XT?

I'm on ~~arch~~ Nobara, btw

A Norwegian newspaper got to see his letter of denial and it didn't list drug use at all. Rather they said he tried to enter the country to get a job illegally.

At this point, CBP's story keeps changing, and I don't trust anything they say.

But I've got two doubts remaining.

Currently, I'm running Windows 11, but I'd still like the ability to dual boot for certain games which don't necessarily work with Linux for various reasons. Is it possible to move a windows install to a different drive and then install Linux on the main drive instead?

If yes, how do I do it?

Second doubt is if I'll have many issues daily driving Linux if I have an Nvidia card

Stuff like this really dilutes the "literal nazi" thing. I think it's hard to unify when whom to unify against is a bit difficult to define

I'd like to read this in a positive light, if not just for my own sanity.

I choose to believe they probably had a hunch because of the flag and wanted to reassure the non-cis person that quote unquote "passing" is getting easier and easier. Kind of a silent endorsement that you should be who you are because you can't tell anymore and that's a good thing.

Please let me believe

Hey! I've been wanting to make the switch to Linux for a while now, and I've dual booted Mint for a while. I realize that most games work well with Linux, but I can't seem to get my Elgato HD60 Pro to work. (Pci-e capture card)

I just want to be able to grab gameplay with HDMI passthrough on Linux, and right now, this is my biggest hurdle (along with Adobe not working well, but I'm gonna switch to davinci resolve for that)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, guys. I work at a school where we use iPads for music education. We've got a bit of an issue though. Some kids delete other people's music projects, and that obviously sucks.

Is there a way to lock certain files so the kids can give their own files their own password protection or something so nobody gets their stuff sabotaged?

Other creative solutions are appreciated as well!

Thanks guys!

Edit: The music room has a Mac, so thanks to your helpful suggestions, we're gonna try with the AirDrop method where they drop to the host machine that the teacher has access to.

Hi, new here to this instance. Also first post on Lemmy, I guess? Sorry if this is the wrong place. There was no "games"-community here, and I wanted to share with the local instance.

Anyway, wanted to recommend some games I've played recently that are somewhat "furry" in their themes.

  • Pseudoregalia A really fun N64 inspired metroidvania where you play as a goat-lady who has to escape a dream world. Extremely satisfying movement and optional costumes to earn. It's great!

  • Corn Kidz 64 A really fun N64 inspired collect-a-thon where you play as a goat-kid who has to escape a dream world. Extremely satisfying movement and... Uh... They sound really similar now that I write it out, but they're real fun.

  • FUGA: Melodies of Steel Tactical RPG where you control children in a big-ass tank. It takes place during """World War 2""" and sports perma-death for the children. Really dark, but really good too. Sequel recently came out too.
