My lukewarm take is that all this hate on AI is really just hating on big companies trying to squeeze money out of some new development. AI (or rather LLMs) are not the problem.

All music is derivative. And if you think the best vocalists or musicians should be the most popular I may have some shocking news for you. The idea that American pop stars are authentic is pretty funny.

Yeah Korean pop idol culture has some extremely toxic elements to it, but so does American celebrity culture. I don't get the feeling that's what's bothering you though.

Who could forget all those touching scenes with little Maggot.

Shutup still works but I wouldn't trust it to prevent all telemetry. I wouldn't trust Microsoft not to have other telemetry that's not part of their services that can be turned off.

Just my 2 cents: I dual boot Windows and Linux. I only start up Windows when I want to play a game, use Linux Mint for everything else. Some games run perfectly fine under Linux (I play a lot of Factorio for example. No Mans Sky I've had no issues etc.) but some are just a pain. For those I switch to Windows and then immediately switch back when I'm done playing.

It's not ideal but this way Windows has next to no information about me at least. And as times goes on I'm seeing more and more games running just fine under Linux. Maybe one day I'll be able to drop Windows completely.

Unlikely. It won't run optimally but it shouldn't be the cause of crashes or bugs. If you're not sure you can run a ram test (https://memtest.org/)

I mean I didn't love it but the hate it gets seems a bit over the top. Would've been better as just an animated movie though.

I looked at an "AAA" game maybe twice in give or take the last decade and both times have regretted it. Indie games are the bomb.

Most of the hate is coming from people who don't really know anything about "AI" (LLM) Which makes sense, companies are marketing dumb gimmicks to people who don't need them and, after the novelty wore off, aren't terribly impressed by them.

But LLMs are absolutely going to be transformational in some areas. And in a few years they may very well become useful and usable as daily drivers on your phone etc, it's hard to say for sure. But both the hype and the hate are just kneejerk reactionary nonsense for the moment.

Yep, het beleid van uw nieuwe regering: niemand hoeft asielzoekers op te nemen maar we gaan ook Ter Apel leeg laten lopen. We gaan gewoon mensen in het luchtledige laten verdwijnen.

There was probably a Hamas commander's handkerchief in the glove compartment.

They are, all the time. But also studios and actors use them as a shield. "It's not our show that sucks it's the evil Internet that made us fail."

The most elaborate space sim ever made is getting another expansion/update, most likely early in the new year. Full announcement on Youtube tomorrow Dec 20th at 16:00 CET.
