They wouldn't wait to tell Israel to cease a genocide until halfway through a Friday, but the advance notice gives police time to prepare for protests

Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --
-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --
-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --
-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--
-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--
-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --
-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --
Ding ding ding! Not that SA didn't make a great case, but if any of you actually hoped that a western institution like the ICJ would actually find Israel guilty of anything but 'self-defence'...
Yeah taking a quick look at the calendar to see when the 26th was did not inspire confidence
This does not inspire confidence
bro that would be the sickest birthday present ever. pls icj i deserve it
Lets see what happens. Ukraine's case at the moment has not come to decision, but they told Russia to "immediately suspend the military operations" in Ukraine, while waiting for the final decision on the case.
Considering the death toll difference I think the ICJ will be forced to at least advise Israel to suspend military operations. If they don't they'll reveal themselves as unrepentant western dogs.
I'm going to wait and see. The majority report had a lawyer on who did the case for the Serbian genocide and he was optimistic, so I'm willing to suspend disbelief and say they'll rule against Israel.
It won't change anything, but they will rule correctly
The ICJ has ruled against the U.S. in the past, so the correct decision here isn't totally out of the question.
always release bad news late on a Friday.
In this case it is gonna be like 7am on the east coast.
That surprises me. Don't these cases normally take like 20 years to come to a decision?
it's not a criminal case yet. this is the pre-trial where they're just determining whether South Africa's case has merits and whether any injunctions need to be issued. the criminal case will take years. the hope is that they find the case to have merit and order Israel to cease military operations in Gaza until the end of the criminal case at the ICC.

Israel: "The ICJ is hamas"
Ah, that makes sense, coolio. Though I guess it's still likely Israel won't abide by any such order.
yeah definitely not. and the US can threaten to invade the Hague even if ICC charges are brought. so it's very much
This isn't the end to the case, the provisional measures are supposed to be temporary until they make a decision on the case
