This is why soldiers think jarheads are morons.

The exercise is meant to be done with your feet on the guy behind’s shoulders. This puts his face somewhere between their feet and knees usually. Then you all do a pushup together and hate the one weak guy who can’t do the exercise.

Bro they have favorite flavors of crayon. Why would they know how to do a pushup.

Can you blame 'em? Not their fault it's bright and colorful. Also why we gotta put locks on the cupboard under the sink whenever they visit.

Yeah, it's gets even worse than that. Marines seriously don't give two flying ducks that anyone thinks they're morons. It's not even a concept to them. They're proud of their ability to endure the shittiest experiences. That's what it's about. So what everyone else would see as stupid as fudge, the Marines will be proud of being able to endure it.

This pretty much sums up my experience.

Why can't I put my cold hands into my warm pockets?

Because "reasons", you see the other branches put their hands in their pockets a lot and we don't because we are better than them....

Oh, I missed the part where that made sense.

lol, yeah. One way of thinking about it is that joining the USMC is like learning how to be a self-harming narcissistic sociopath with rules of engagement and camaraderie that drinks too much. I mean this in the nicest way possible.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 11 months ago

Sounds pretty accurate actually. I got told to spit my gum out while I was deployed in a desert. We can't have nice things. Why does my "professionalism" matter when I'm in a desert filling sandbags?

The Gayest Homophobes /s

Seriously though, when I was in, we were under Don't Ask, Don't Tell, which meant that anyone that even as much as identified as gay was kicked out. I signed a paper that described in detail what were homosexual behaviors that were unlawful. This paper was more elaborate than my actual service contract. Still, 95% of E-5 and below Marines and Corpsmen would protect their clearly gay buddies from this by not snitching or coming up with alibis for them. In fact, at least in my unit, we embraced our gay buddies by going to gay clubs with them a few times. And of course, lesbian behavior was okay if it was "hot" and the girls said they were bi, so that never really mattered.

It was until Sept 20, 2011. At that point, "sodomy" was still unlawful until Dec 2013. Also in 2013, they started recognizing same-sex marriages.

On a related matter, transgender issues have had unstable policies. Since 2021, there are no restrictions on gender identity, while administrative support (e.g records, paperwork, etc.) and medical care for transitioning service members are provided.

Thank you!!

How fucking stupid can you be to care about the sexuality of people who want to die defending you...

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

asparagus and cuddlefish. well ok. whatever you want kyle.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

I have never cuddled a fish. In my head, this is a fuzzy carp that swims in warm, vanilla scented water and leaps into your arms.

Cuddlefish needs to be bred into existence, or genetically engineered pronto.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Na, he made it by combining a bunch of shit from several MREs

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Some people pay good money for that.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)
