This is why soldiers think jarheads are morons.

The exercise is meant to be done with your feet on the guy behind’s shoulders. This puts his face somewhere between their feet and knees usually. Then you all do a pushup together and hate the one weak guy who can’t do the exercise.

Bro they have favorite flavors of crayon. Why would they know how to do a pushup.

Can you blame 'em? Not their fault it's bright and colorful. Also why we gotta put locks on the cupboard under the sink whenever they visit.

Yeah, it's gets even worse than that. Marines seriously don't give two flying ducks that anyone thinks they're morons. It's not even a concept to them. They're proud of their ability to endure the shittiest experiences. That's what it's about. So what everyone else would see as stupid as fudge, the Marines will be proud of being able to endure it.

This pretty much sums up my experience.

Why can't I put my cold hands into my warm pockets?

Because "reasons", you see the other branches put their hands in their pockets a lot and we don't because we are better than them....

Oh, I missed the part where that made sense.

lol, yeah. One way of thinking about it is that joining the USMC is like learning how to be a self-harming narcissistic sociopath with rules of engagement and camaraderie that drinks too much. I mean this in the nicest way possible.

Sounds pretty accurate actually. I got told to spit my gum out while I was deployed in a desert. We can't have nice things. Why does my "professionalism" matter when I'm in a desert filling sandbags?
