As a American, we wouldnt even care. Maybe 2-3 days of news, maybe a few protests. But that's it.

I'm being real.

We had a crazy person do a school shooting on a elementary school called Sandy Hook.

We had cops drop actual bombs on citizens in West Philadelphia.

Remember when America bombed that country and killed thousands of civilians? Are you going "which one"? Cambodia. Vietnam. Iraq. Iran. Hell, Iran's bombing had literal school children.

We wouldn't care.

I had said this about a year ago, but i strongly believe that one country (US, Russia, Israel, etc) will get a “one free nuke” pass. Way too much time has passed since WW2 and though people know what it does, the visceral feeling isn’t there.

The first one to drop one will receive a lot of condemnation, sanctions and hand wringing but that will be it. Now if a second one is dropped by any nation, that will most likely trigger an armed conflict.

But right now, countries have become too passive about physical action and would not know how to react.

The same reaction when the US dropped non-nuclear bombs on Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Palestine, Afghanistan, Serbia, Bosnia... not only from this president. Americans don't care about anything, they only care about money and how (dropping bombs on other people) will affect their income/taxes, nothing more. Non-Americans will protest (pro-Western people, whatever that means), some will call for a holy war against the devil-loving US, some will say nothing hoping they will be the next to do something similar (you know who), and the rest will simply be silenced.

The world will gasp and rend their garments. The usa will see this as winning a sports game of some sort.

Mostly the same split on the war. What will change some pro war, or war tolerant, people's opinions is direct consequences. Iran itself may be able to permanently destroy oil production/export capacity in region. Nazi empire colonies will continue their cowardice in pure demonic evil. But supposedly, China and Russia have set red lines including nuclear strikes on Israel, and sinking Navy. GCC colonies would likely break US alliance. These are the countries that help financialize US bubble the most. Their destruction/consequences alone would make them incapable of continuing to support US bubble.

Does $300 oil and a global economic depression cause people to pressure their countries/military establishement to coup Trump and Zionist supremacist supporters? Just because there has be some change in populist demonism for Israel, 50/50 on demonism towards China, the stupididity lock in for demonism against Russia and immigrants/races/personal freedom is divisive enough to be fatal.

It's fair that global opinion of US would take a hit, as has Israel's genocide on video over the last 2 years. But colonial rulerships need changing to cause change. The only difference between AfD and CDU is less suicidal demonism towards Russia.

Schumer will write a strongly worded memo complaining that it was just one nuke and not 50, and that the US must send monetary aid to Israel because they might get some radiation from our nukes. And, some rallies will be held in which ICE beats protesters en masse and kills a few. Same as always.

There will be another toilet paper shortage, I can tell you that much

Dropping a nuclear bomb is essentially a world ending event at this point. Pakistan shares a border with Iran, they have nukes. China and Russia also have nukes.

I think the immediate reaction in the US will be of disgust and fear. I think most MAGA people would be against dropping a nuke.

I think about 30% of the population would be exhilarated and rally around a false sense of righteous power. About 60% would be absolutely aghast and would make a lot of noise for a few weeks. Then they’d gradually settle into the comfort of being indignant without actually changing anything. After a while the American people would continue doing the same thing they’ve done for the last eight decades: inflicting violence on everyone for the enrichment of a few privileged oligarchs.

I don't think Americans will react to anything unless it happens on their own soil for a change.

Blue States: Horror, protest in streets on the opposite side of the country in places Trump already knows are against him.

Red States: "Fuck yeah! About damn time!" (Proceeds to pay $17/gallon for gas to 'own the libs'.)

There would be mass panic at the imminent nuclear crisis. Borders probably shut down.

Some with a brain left will protest.

Personally I would at that point be making a trip to the capital because the Orange fucker will have placed not just Iranians, not just American citizens, but all human life on earth at risk.

Keep in mind that other nations like Russia and China would have less than 5 minutes to react to an intercontinental missile heading vaguely in their direction, they could choose to retaliate and mutually ensure destruction.

I might depend on size and where.

If it's smaller than the ones used on Japan and not in Tehran, there will be less protest than if it was a megaton bomb used on Tehran.

Much sadness, some attempts to justify, and some cheering.

The other nuclear-armed countries will feel validated that they have nukes.

Then maybe some amazement when Iranian drone strikes on American ships continue.

My reaction, as a Canadian, would be "I hope we've been secretly preparing what's needed for a nuclear program of our own because we need our own nukes immediately now. America's collapse is progressing way faster and harder than I expected."

I think some people will protest and I think some people won't care and some will cheer for it and every reaction in between

Not a damn thing. Our population has no balls to stand up to oppression. We ARE the oppression.

I cannot predict their behavior because they behave outside of reason

American's reactions will range from despair to triumph. Most of them feel sad about it at the minimum. But I think they will be mainly responding to the state of affairs, after all a nuke just reflects the extreme voices currently in power in the US.

I personally will grieve the world before the new nuke dropped. I would be scared of escalation and I would probably also get more radical in my beliefs. I would probably find fairly radical activist groups and join them and try to supply them with my time and knowledge as much as possible.

Basically a nuke will change my methods. I will basically look at the current geopolitics as beyond repair and I will try my best to make my voice heard forcefully, so we can role the dice and hope for better leaders. Maybe I will have to donate my freedom.

But until that part of me dies that still hopes we can get there with our current system, I will be a holdout and just make my vote count.

Americans will wait to be told how to react. The public gave up rational thought a long time ago.

The night he was threatening to do it, I had a plan. It probably wasn't a healthy plan. I was going to listen to the news coverage, smoke a joint, and pig out.

Most Americans will do the same, cope however they can while watching in helpless terror.
