But it will be a total surprise for our politicians: Nobody could have seen this coming.

And if somebody does see it coming: Putler wouldn't be so stupid to do it.

Guess what, he will be stupid enough. Then it's time to write a strong worded letter I guess. I really hope european leaders will show a closed front and fight back with absolute determination.

Trump: “Putin personally promised me that he wouldn’t attack NATO. And I believe him”

Putin: busy attacking NATO through assassinations, covert sabotage, armed drones and cyberwarfare

Honestly, I thought Russia attacking NATO by 2030 was a little far fetched (a war against one smaller country is not going particularly well) but this legit raises my guess it'll happen by some 10% or so?

Russians know that nobody wants WW3, and they don’t want it too, actually. But they’re willing to exploit Western cautiousness on that matter - that’s why possibility of “limited incursions” has been brought up quite a few times recently, where they’ll just start chipping pieces of their neighbours, small enough for Russian friends like US to prevent organised collective defense answers.

Russia is already attacking NATO with hybrid warfare. Russia wants to destabilize Europe as european countries are helping Ukraine defence against Russia.

Russia is not attacking Europe militarily, but attacking the European institutions to make Europe incapable to act, extend influence and defend itself. And China is helping as they have the same objective.

Russia can’t handle a blindsided Ukraine.

They even had the advantage of starting with Crimea, a large naval base INSIDE enemy territory, and the Kerch Bridge.

Nato is magnitudes stronger than Russia, even without the US, even with the US feeding Russia inside information and helping them.

What nato countries don't have is strong leadership. Any attack on nato however would be small and calculated to be under the threshold that would warrant a response from our milquetoast leaders in the west.

I'd like to believe that two* liars make a statement true. Yet statements like these only point to where they want us to focus attention... So we normally could ignore the whole thing, and return to the thing they want us to ignore....

So.... they* are going to attack soon?

Putin is deranged but I thought even he knew he already bit more than he could chew when attacking Ukraine. But now the orange says this and I fear Putin will go full crash out on Europe.

Even if Russia attacks NATO, umm....what will Putin get out of it? He's already preoccupied in Ukraine. He had to recall contingents of Russian mercenaries from Africa to fight in Ukraine. He has trouble keeping his vassal states from fighting each other because there are no Russian troops to keep them in line. His economy is starting to shake. The war is unpopular among Russians even if they don't admit it openly. And of course, the mobilisation is a very delicate topic that will instantly turn any pro- or Putin tolerant Russians into vehemently anti-Putin ones. Needless to say, he will be stretching Russian resources and patience in vain attempt to stoke his ego.

Attacking NATO directly will accelerate Russian decline even further. So, even though I get that we should be prepared for any possibilities, it's way stupider of Putin to even seriously consider attacking NATO.

It would be a big issue for EU. It's economy is on the verge of recession and attack on any member would most likely cause EU wide disruptions and economic slowdown. Russia is very dependent on China now so the questions is: what would China get out of economic troubles in EU? And the answer is "a lot".

An answer could be something like this: Putin's Russia was never about Russia but about Putin. Putin's re-election (though manufactured) is this year already. Because of his loses- which he doenst acknowledge- he needs a new pretext for a mass mobilisation. The RT propaganda machine have been prepping the masses to consider NATO the mortal enemy. Also, since the Iran war (US airdefense) ammo is historically low, and Europe's defence potential has not reached it's peak yet.

Return on investment. Russia hasn't switched to war economy for nothing. War economy is unsustainable unless you invade and pillage rich countries, and Ukraine isn't one
