This is a good cause, but is also likely a tax write off for apple. It also incentivizes people to use their products, so an overall gain for them.

I mean it’s good they’re doing something but that isn’t even a drop in the bucket for them.

These comments are what I expected from Reddit. 1 million dollars cap sucks but it’s still 1 million dollars lol. I wish it was more but it’s still nice, and not something Apple had to do. And no this isn’t “the same as me donating 2 dollars”, because 1 million dollars is gonna help out a lot more than 2 dollars will.

~$15,000,000 a year over 17 years, pretty to great! Hats off to Apple, their total donation to TGF over 17 years is 0.2% of this year’s net income alone.

Why does Apple need to wait for a manufactured event like this? It has so so much money it could easy donate $1 or $1million to Red and not miss a penny. All these ultra-rich companies with billions could and should donate to major crises like this to make them go away. Homelessness, cancer, AIDS, childhood hunger, they could resolve those issues overnight rather than turn them into "marketing" opportunities. This is the definition of virtue signaling.

Cue people complaining that it’s not enough while ignoring that Exxon, Alphabet and the rest of the other top 10 largest companies have made no such announcement. I’m sure they’re doing something, and I know this isn’t Apple’s only charitable activity.

This is like the Mr. Beast arguments. Is donating even tho you make money off of it bad? So should we ban anything that does that? Only charitable efforts that don't make money are now allowed?
