People close to me say the n-word as a racial slur, and this has been happening often recently. It's been directed toward me also. I don't support this use of the n-word; I completely avoid saying myself.

I would hope that most people avoid using any racial slurs...

I try, but sometimes I have to say one when I am telling someone what I'd like to snack on. Or if I discover a weakness in something's armor.

"I'll take some crackers."

"We did it, boys. We found the chink in their armor!"

Isn't this a little like reporting that you have skin, or that your human metabolism converts calories into energy?

Most people don't support it.

I've known perhaps 3 people who thought using such language was ok.

They've all been dead for probably 40 years (well, except one, and I look forward to pissing on his grave, fucking asshole).

No one in my generation growing up thought it was ok, any who spoke like that would hear about it from their friends, and their parents would be told.

I usually avoid saying or thinking it. it doesnt come to mind, but once when I was a kid, i said it to a black person and never got a chance to apologize.I feel really bad about it to this day. that being said, I have, since, learned about the trials and tribulations that black people had to go through as a race and educated myself about the history of black rights. there is a really good Tiktok, and maybe other platforms, account I follow that is really good at telling you real african-american history and she is wonderful. her account is @ashleytheebarroness if anyone is interested in learning this side of history. if you despise Tiktok like many do, she might have a similar account name on Youtube.

What do you want a cookie?

I don't support stealing from old people. I don't support nazis. I don't support kidnapping babies. I don't support kicking puppies

Call out people who do. Tell them it's not okay.

Especially with other people around. Many people know it's not right, but don't want to say anything because they're afraid of confrontation. But if someone says it's not cool, they'll be more likely to say something backing you up.

There's some great advice available online. I tried looking up some examples but it's hard to pick one site. So if you're looking, you can start here
