I'm convinced some people are masochists. In media, villains justify their attempt to control the world by stating people want to be ruled. I didn't understand it before but the older I get, the more I understand that some people like to be followers. This is why totalitarianism persists.
It's particularly hilarious when the people championing these ideologies would fall into one of the would-be-liquidated-in-Nazi-Germany groups. I saw a person with major physical disabilities talking about the glory of the stupid Reich.
There was a referendum right before ussr dissolution. Practically everyone voted against dissolution. Ussr had Many positives and was a light in the darkness of this world. And now - we still live without guaranteed healthcare.
Not sure what tankies are telling you, but everyone left USSR with Kazakhstan being technically the USSR for four days.
