Remember when every moron in the country was insisting that Trump would press the magic "make everything cheap" button on day one? Lol idiots.
And the costs of the American attack on Iran coming via the Fertilizer -> Corn -> Almost all food sold in America pipeline haven't even hit them yet.
This is literally the beginning of the beginnning.
I'd also say it's more than 3 in 5. Everyone I know has changed their shopping habits. I used to make a list and grab my stuff. Now I just wander around the store trying to see if there is anything cheaper I can try for dinner. Maybe a package of something about to expire or a premade dish that's on sale.
I cut out breakfast and lunch entirely, so that helps me save up for dinner and luckily my work provides snacks. So I live on snacks and chicken since it's all I can afford.
The farm report for 2027 is looking ROUGH. Trump has destroyed the economy and the entire farming industry. We are all cooked.
Don’t worry! The rich billionaire will buy all the non-profitable farmland and fix everything! /s
Also fuck bill gates and jd Vance.
The super generic frozen dinners and prepackaged shit have become cheaper than cooking things normally where I am unless your going straight rice and beans or buying in massive bulk.
But for a single person even with meal prepping and freezing stuff. I end up with too much food spoilage to cost ratio at this point. So I can't even do bulk buying with out losing too much to spoilage.
My meals basically have become cheap canned foods and frozen generic brand slop. With rice. Everything with rice.
Now can rice stop going up too. My store can't even stock enough it's always sold out. And my God the price of fresh veggies destroy me. So only frozen bulk veggies or canned!
Does your job offer protein bars or anything similar that'll offer more sustenance? Bagels even?
They do!! And they will order stuff we request. Most protein bars are really high in saturated fat, so I can't eat them. But lots of granola and cashews.
One of those five has no idea their spouse has altered the grocery list, because it’s more like 4/5 are struggling and 1/5 are either independently extremely wealthy or in middle management and have no fucking idea what’s going on, they just know all these ungrateful poors are really gonna suffer once they get promoted to owner and get their yachts.
Excluding beef and steak saves a ton of money.
Keeping an eye out for that real lean chicken, you know what I'm saiyan?
I believe it's generally know as long pork.
Yummy Soylent Green
I prefer my Soylent Green to be Billionaire-style.
This is the US. There's no chance it would be lean.
Indeed, I made that change in 2020. Going meatless for a few days also isn't bad. Lentils and such are real cheap.
This doesn't include the people who could not afford to have a shopping list? Or the people who already had the bare minimum of cheapest products to survive on their list?
