It's a city largely divided between north and south, with the north being wealthier and more German, and the south poorer and mostly foreign.

There's areas in Gostenhof, an area that used to vote for the Left Party, that was won by the "Politbande", an electoral list of the culture scene for the culture scene, which got 2% elsewhere. If you hear someone speak English, instead of Turkish on the street - that's likely a gentrifier.
