All politicians should be legally required to use the most basic tier of Medicaid, with all of the requirements except for age and all of the bullshit the poorest person in the country goes through trying to apply. They should be legally required to apply for and use SNAP at the level allocated for their immediate family size if they want to eat. They should be moved into public housing via the same waitlist as everyone else. John Fetterman is such a fucking vampire because he's allowed to be. He should endure what humans have to.

I could maybe believe that number is accurate for a median dual income family with no major health concerns before the premium increases that hit this year but it's also absurdly high to begin with. To be basically fine and still pay $4k a year (probably around 5% of gross income) just for basic preventative care is absurd.

Edit: or if he only means out of pocket expenses but then you're probably doubling or tripling that number by adding healthcare premiums for the insurance that doesn't even kick in until the family wipes their savings out every year.

Like i dunno it's one thing for him to be outright evil and doing evil for evil purposes, but he's literally a fucking u.s. senator with all the power and authority and ability to find real information that entails, and he seems to genuinely think that that is what the american public is paying. Honestly that's most politicians. They really have some sort of twisted perception of the realities that everyday people are faced with and the longer they spend time in the government with all the cushy benefits that all these ghouls get the further removed they are from reality.

For 29 million USans, healthcare is cheaper than that. They cannot afford insurance and are ineligible for Medicaid/Medicare.
