Warsh will formally succeed Fed Chair Jerome Powell, whose eight-year tenure was marked by several economic crises and a heated clash with the White House to defend the US central bank’s political independence.

Warsh was confirmed in a 54-45 vote, mostly split along party lines, with only Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania crossing the aisle to vote in favor of Warsh’s nomination. It was the most partisan vote for a Fed chair nominee in history.

with only Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania crossing the aisle to vote

Getting real tired of reading this same bullshit. He's a fucking DINO.

[-] joekar1990@lemmy.world 27 points 3 days ago

Sucks because he completely changed after his stroke and health issues.

[-] Malyca@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago

Nah he's always been shady. We were had with him. Like sienema.

[-] Jhex@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago

that was just the excuse given… democrats always cave, turn, hide, betray to keep the wheel turning

Seriously, no one demanded a reason of Sinema. As long as there are democrats left, there will always be enough democrats flipping to pass republican agendas. It's what they're paid for.

Sinema officially did a flip to Independent, I wouldn’t be surprised if Fetterman does the same. All the more reason to primary corporate aligned incumbents and vote progressives in though; which currently occupy less than five seats officially in the Senate and about 100 seats in the House.

There is always a rotating villain in the Democratic party so they can always say they tried but so and so got in the way and thus they can't fight back. Strange how this only happens to the dems though /s.

I hate the dur dur. Its always been like this replies to stuff like this. He was genuinely different and musk was not a complete nutter at one point too and heck even the republicans had some merit when you go back 50 years. Not saying they were all great but definately a difference from one time period to another.

[-] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

In this particular case it doesn't matter. The vote would have passed with or without him.

[-] nosuchanon@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Money printer go BRRRRRRERREERRRRR!

Get ready for astronomical levels of inflation!

Maybe this means I can finally pay off my student loan since the money is going to be fucking worthless anyway.

[-] XeroxCool@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago

I'm no ecologist but this sounds sound to me. That is, assuming, pay comes up too and not just the cost of living.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

[-] Kirp123@lemmy.world 65 points 3 days ago

Is this the guy that refused to say who won the 2020 election? Good luck America.

[-] Insekticus@aussie.zone 56 points 3 days ago

Kevin Warsh is a piece of shit and will continue the destruction of the American empire.

Shit is going to get even harder for Americans unless they do the Revolution Deux: a bankers introduction to French constructions

One way or another Warsh definitely is.

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 29 points 3 days ago

This was the last part of the federal government we could honest information from and the thing barely keeping our economy from collapsing. Going to be one heck of an interesting year :(

[-] grue@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago

Weimar-style hyperinflation, here we come!

[-] brendansimms@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

I can't wait to hang up my 1billion US dollar bill next to my 1billion Zimbabwe bill

[-] P00ptart@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Your first billion us bill. The rest will be toilet paper.

[-] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

The Fed will be business as usual until mid November. After they steal the midterms, they'll manufacture a reason for free money to oligarchs to buy up anything us plebs are still holding onto.

[-] bitteroldcoot@piefed.social 39 points 3 days ago

He will now proceed to destroy the American economy.

Trump has a bunch of variable rate loans on his properties. Warsh will lower the rate in the face of inflation to pay back trump for the nominations.

Also Warsh is in the Epstein files. And his father in law was the one pushing trump to invade Greenland. This is one evil dude.

[-] rayyy@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago

He is going to lower interest rates, drive up inflation and asset prices, like the stock market and real estate. Wages will remain stagnate so workers will be poorer and slide backwards in living standards. The rich will get much richer and the poor will be shit out of luck, especially young people. Pedophilia will reign once again in the US.

[-] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 5 points 3 days ago

Personally I want hyperinflation so I can pay off all my debt

[-] bitteroldcoot@piefed.social 14 points 3 days ago

And after your debt is paid off, you will be free to live your life of ease..... in a cardboard box in an alley way.

On a serious note, once it gets started it is really hard to stop.

[-] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Inflation alone does not make your debt more payable. You're banking on a pay raise in the most worker hostile government and market since the labor rights movement began. If you think those in charge wont make sure you're doing worse off comparatively so they can do better you haven't been paying attention.

Raises today don't outpace inflation what makes you think they will start once we put dumber people in charge?

[-] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 0 points 2 days ago

If we get really bad inflation and pay doesn't go up then landlords are going to stop getting Revenue. People will stop showing up to work because their paychecks are meaningless, grinding the economy to a halt

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 4 points 3 days ago

100%. Trumps been bitching about interest rates being high with powel. we will go from inflation to hyper inflation. In addition the fed was the only thing giving us good economic data. Now that is gone. Its the last bastion and still 6 months from election.

Accelerationist are loving this timeline. Start growing shit y'all, or at least stock up on some dry beans, lentils, and rice.

[-] SupraMario@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago
[-] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 3 points 3 days ago

And a slingshot for when you run out of ammo but still have beans.

Jerome Powell is staying on the board still and may end up being a shadow chairman directing votes and leading cloture.

[-] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago
