Didn’t two Minnesota state reps get assassinated like two months ago

The reason assassins don’t target democrats is because you don’t include them in the list!

[-] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 40 points 3 days ago

It was right before Kirk died, wasn't it? And Republicans didn't say shit, except maybe making fun of it. Then Kirk died and it was like we lost Jesus, suddenly political violence is horrible (even though he's not politician), and the extreme left is out of control (even though it doesn't seem like he was shot by a leftist?).

[-] BioWarfarePosadist@hexbear.net 14 points 3 days ago

As Chapo put it Kirk's killer was a left curious girlfriend defender.

[-] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago

That's the perfect description lol.

Maybe I should listen to them because sometimes these great gems come out of it. The problem is I have to get through an hour of the gamble of sometimes interesting news coverage and funny jokes, sometimes uninteresting news coverage and cringe jokes lol.

[-] BioWarfarePosadist@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago

True. I just listen to them on my morning commute getting ready for work.

It's low-key enough to not distract, but engaging enough for me not to fall back asleep.

It was around June 14th 2025.

Holy shit really? Time stopped passing at a consistent measurable rate in March 2020

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 5 points 3 days ago

He wasn't shot by Robinson. He died suddenly after trying to talk Trump out of war with Iran and refusing a nine-figure contribution/bribe from Netanyahu himself. You'll notice that Israel always has the most deeply unsympathetic patsies they use to blame-shift their despicable acts. They say Hamas deserved it, and it's pretty hard to feel sympathy with them. I have a Mauser and there is no way you can disassemble it without a half hour and a workbench. Robinson will be acquitted or more likely a Jack Ruby (Rubenstein) will step up to silence him like they did to Lee Harvey Oswald, a communist at the height of the Red Scare.

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 34 points 3 days ago

Someone should explain this to them. Because they legit don't know.

[-] Dessa@hexbear.net 27 points 3 days ago

And wasnt there one in Arizona some years back too?

[-] Crucible@hexbear.net 18 points 3 days ago

Yeah, Gabby Giffords. It was a full on mass shooting, 6 other people died and she survived but had been shot in the head so it really shook people at the time

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 3 points 3 days ago

I remember seeing the SARAH PALIN IS A C-NT shirts being worn loud and proud by people you'd be shocked to see wear a misogynist slur like that.

[-] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 24 points 3 days ago

And the kidnapping attempt before that

That time Pelosi's husband got got by a hammer bro like he was in fuckin Super Mario

The Jan 6th memers had plastic ties and we're calling out for Pelosi and AOC

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago

There's a strong case to be made J6 was an FBI op as well. Usually you can tell who's a fed because they are the only competent ones. Federal informant after federal informant turns out to be the head of security for the "hate everyone" group. Far right fulfill every negative stereotype, so many are just plain dumb and couldn't organize a community garden, much less a coup.

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 14 points 3 days ago

That was an FBI op. They set up their own terrorist attacks, usually they recruit mentally challenged people because it's easier to talk them into doing illegal things. Muslims especially.

[-] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago

And one of them was hugely influential in maintaining abortion protections and the welfare state.

[-] Athena5898@hexbear.net 13 points 3 days ago

Wasn't there two Democrats assassinated in their homes a few months back and few people talked about it?

[-] WafflesTasteGood@hexbear.net 37 points 3 days ago

Does this make Fidel Castro the most Republican leader?

[-] kristina@hexbear.net 21 points 3 days ago

He was taught tactics by a Spanish republican general

[-] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 13 points 3 days ago

Alberto Bayo was a Lieutenant Colonel of the Spanish Republic, he was granted the rank of General by the revolutionary Cuba.

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 1 points 3 days ago

Better than that loser Colonel Gaddafi who couldn't get promoted to general even though he gave himself the exam with permission to cheat.

[-] quarrk@hexbear.net 44 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

What’s a JFK? Gabby Giffords? Even Melissa Hortman

[-] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 34 points 3 days ago

town-crier uhm actually liberal, history began on uhm checks calendar April 25, 2026

[-] moss_icon@hexbear.net 26 points 3 days ago

Clinton and Obama also had quite a few attempts made on their lives. Think Biden had a couple too.

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 20 points 3 days ago

It's interesting that I don't remember any of them being this high-profile in the media.

Or is this another train derailment/warehouse fire situation where Trump assassination attempts are more popular so they show up more in the news?

[-] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 19 points 3 days ago

I think it's because trump notoriously fires people he thinks are ugly (big fucking lol) so the others just had better teams that didn't let the assassins get as close as trump routinely does.

[-] SchillMenaker@hexbear.net 15 points 3 days ago

This has got some legs. Look at what the handsome generals have gotten us into with Iran.

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 2 points 3 days ago

He fired John Bolton because of that stupid moustache.

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

To be fair, he fired up Bolton because of poor political reflex of Bolton who didn't flip his position fast enough in 2019, and then instead of getting silently back into the fold he thrown up a personal tantrum and even wrote a book where he described Trump as not only being less warmongering than most of Rep establishment (unforgivable sin) but also having very suspicious skills like basic ability to recognize Pacific Ocean on the map. So it turned personal.

Also, to be fair for Bolton mustache, while it is indeed a crime against facial hair, his face without it is not only even creepier, but he look kinda like the democrat hexbear emoji.

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

Oh, wow. That's the one Sarah Palin posted a photo of her with a crosshair and sure enough, a Tea Party member showed up and gunned her down. Remember when Sarah Palin was the biggest idiot in American politics?

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 2 points 3 days ago

JFK was assassinated after introducing United States Notes to replace Federal Reserve Notes. He was also firmly against Israel getting nuclear weapons. LBJ quickly dropped both of these. Just wait until they eliminate paper money altogether and your Alipay won't work more than 15 minutes from your registered residence.

[-] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 33 points 3 days ago

Never want to hear about “liberal media”, when whenever something bad happens to anyone even nominally to the left of Hitler, no one cares and it never gets reported.

[-] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 13 points 3 days ago

I actually agree with your thesis, that portraying the opposition as an existential and real threat to everything you hold dear creates an environment where stochastic violence is inevitable. At least, I think that's your thesis.

However, your article ignores all the violence against Democrats, of which, there is plenty. It also ignores the fact that the Republican ideologue industry is rife with decades of people claiming the same against Democrats, often using even stronger language. Democrats are literally described as "demons" and such.

This puts your thesis at a crossroads of contradiction: Either you are admitting that Democrats are also targeted due to the same rhetoric or that they are not. Well, if they are, then the whole vibe of your title is off. Democrats ARE targeted, too. Or, they are not and your thesis on the mechanism on why Republicans are always targeted instead of Democrats must be false.

[-] Ekranoplane@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago

This is literally incoherent lol:

This is why assassins go after Republican presidents. They are an existential threat to the Democratic Party, and Trump is the tip of the spear.

Brother, you made 0 points. What is this? Fucking embarrassing.

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 5 points 3 days ago

You should study until it becomes coherent.
A lot of these people are reachable and it a is a huge failing to block and refuse to talk to them. I myself for the longest time had no idea what Marx said because the people who talked about his teachings were so off-putting. Often deliberately so. It's like being a southern Baptist and getting people to follow the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth by being gigantic assholes and thoroughly enjoying it.

[-] Ekranoplane@hexbear.net 5 points 3 days ago

If you were debating a flat earther would you try to find the coherence of their arguments? There's nothing worth trying to understand here, it's just drivel about a cherry picked list. Call the author a genocidal pedophile and move on.

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 2 points 3 days ago

That's what I used to think about Marx. It's tons of fun to poke holes in them and make them argue against themselves. You start with their premises and prove them wrong, with their premises. "Know thy enemy." -- Sun Tzu

[-] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago

it's tons of fun

yeah and some people enjoy getting pooped on or whatever but it ain't for me

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

You don't get it: you start with heir premises, then prove how they're wrong, using their premises. It's incredible! You get them arguing against themselves then prove what they just did. They get angry, then you make memes about them getting angry.

[-] Ekranoplane@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago

You did not think Marx was incoherent due to reading the Marxist arguments, but the vibes of the liberal zeitgeist. This is a different situation, since we're analyzing the actual arguments and finding no substance.

[-] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 2 points 3 days ago

Pretend they have substance. Use your theory of mind.
Put yourself in another person's shoes and argue their points. Do it better than them.
Attorneys do it all the time.

[-] Ekranoplane@hexbear.net 2 points 3 days ago

Once again asking how you would approach debating a flat earther then

[-] Sabbo@hexbear.net 5 points 3 days ago

No point -- they always move right at the last moment.
