Border Patrol Agent Aiming 40mm Launcher At My Head - ICE Protest 1/31

Picture from Saturday's protest at the Portland ICE facility. An agent fixed his 40mm launcher at my head twice, despite me very obviously being a photographer.

Be careful. Cameras are apparently guns now according to dhs

[-] Soulphite@reddthat.com 43 points 1 week ago

Oooo shots fired! No, for real... murderous agents fired shots.

The resistance and pressure as well as non-compliance Minneapolis has been doing is very good. The only addition is I'd add that they need to regularly guard their neighborhoods, armed. That they have contact with others in multiple ways to warn of ICE in the area. Maybe not armed but when a task force of ICE is found, they have a task force of citizens there to document, resist, and just be general interference. Far too many people talk about resisting and violence against ICE to mean lone wolf shooting. That's not what we're calling for.

'Murica sure does love it some war. War over here, war over there. War all over and everywhere. War on brown people. War on drugs. War on civility. War on guns. War is hell? Nah, not for 'murica, War is opportunity for 'murica prosperity.

As a brown I fully agree, but also look back at history and think... don't all dominant empires pull the same shit?

This is a cool photo. Did you submit it to anything? I don't mean cool as in "oh look a military man, go USA". I mean it's cool as in look at warzone trump turned it into.

Not my photo, original photo came from the linked reddit post

Beautiful shot.

There is SO much good potential for solid propaganda messaging here. Look how scary and threatening these gasmasked brown-suited goons are. They even got the polarized lenses in Villainous Henchmen red?!?! What a GIFT!

They're like the Combine or XCOM 2's Advent. Heck they even got a Killzone Helghast thing going on!

C'mon artists! Let's take this inspiration and put up elaborate guerilla murals and wheatpaste posters all over town.

Imagery and art that can't be ignored:

"Look at these filthy storm troopers, dragging away children, pointing their big lethal guns at expectant mothers and nuns and doctors and puppies!"

Get the message across to the ignorant uninvolved masses: These aren't the friggin Paw Patrol. They do nothing for "safety." They don't target criminals. (A bunch of muppet-brains actually try to say this with a straight face. It's mind-blowing.)

Show them unmistakably as they are: They're pitiless and alien, they're evil, they're scary, and they're a Bad Thing.

If you and your community don't help stop them TODAY, they'll laugh as they throw you and your neighbors into a van after shooting your dog.

The best artists use references, and the photo is right here. Let's get to work!

(PSA: If you do this digitally, don't forget to upload your "fan art" with TOR! 😉)

Thanks for what wheatpaste into my lexicon and toolbox.

Haha neat! :D

Apparently it's turned into a specific brand name for a few companies, but here's where the term and technique came from, if you or anybody else is interested. :)

Sees America doing American things in the American way they always have: "this looks like something those inferior foreigners would do!"

American exceptionalism is a religion

[-] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 13 points 1 week ago

Libs looking at American pigs doing the thing they've done for a century: What are we? A bunch of filthy foreigners?

[-] DigitalAudio@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 week ago

I'm from a so-called "3rd world dump" and not even, because our death squads aren't as well-armed to kill civilians.

Then again, there may be a lot wrong with my country, but we definitely do not share America's problems in the first place.

[-] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 week ago

Those "Third world dumps" often are the way they are because the US did violent military interventions in those countries.

This is the Imperial Boomerang coming back around. ICE is doing to Americans what their fathers, brothers, and sons were shipped off to do in Vietnam, Iraq, and countless other places.

This fact doesn't make the deaths of Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and others, any less tragic. But It doesn't make the deaths of the people in those "Third world dumps" any less tragic either. I think these people deserve more respect than to have their homes called dumps.

The dissonance is amazing. There are ads for murcan tourism playing on tv here ( Australia ). The ads depict national parks, playing children, scenes of beauty. Then you see the real murca in these photos. The scenes from ‘Fallout’ are closer to reality than the tv ads. Makes you wonder who they think they’re fooling with the ads. We laugh at them ( the ads, not the murcans) the same way you laugh at old popeye cartoons.

And the Canadian government STILL hasn't put out a travel warning to the US.

This should definitely make it into a history book, if we still have them.

I remember when they deemed Paris a war zone. Well well well. How the turntables...

We’re going to have to brand the text of the 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendments on them
