I thought this was America!? I can't enjoy a fine succulent AI meal?

Alaska Art Alumni Arrested for Absorbing Another Adherent AI Appeared Art in Argument*

Fixed it, it was so close!!

That's what I thought at first

Princess Carolyn, is that you?

He was intaking it for training data! Surely an AI artist can appreciate the deep importance of that?

[-] ZDL@lazysoci.al 40 points 2 weeks ago

The caption is wrong. Nick Dwyer isn't an artist. He's a clank-fucker.

Also … doesn't he just look exactly like you'd expect a clank-fucker saying "NO REALLY, THIS IS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAART!" to look? Empty, soulless eyes. A way too serious expression for someone who typed "ANIME GIRL BIG BEWBS" and called the output art.

[-] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 39 points 2 weeks ago

It was obviously a statement about how large image models gobble up other people's art and spit it back out.

[-] wheezy@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 weeks ago

Nah, it definitely goes all the way through and comes out the other end.

[-] YourMomsTrashman@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

It's a statement about how society literally consumes slop

[-] basket@pie.gravitywell.xyz 17 points 2 weeks ago

must have tasted like shit

Actually they were arrested for potentially hurting a professional fulltime investor's feelings.

[-] entwine@programming.dev 6 points 2 weeks ago

They're guilty of conspiracy against shareholder value. Seeing such heinous crimes makes me wish burning at the stake was still a valid form of punishment.

In a way, implying the bulimic nature of AI is a more powerful statement than consuming it for sustenance.

[-] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago

True perfomance art.

You gotta watch those macros brah, you can taste the crimes against humanity but always spit them out

Seems these days, the news articles with the word "Protest" and an American place name in the headline, all gravitate towards the same thing.

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 6 points 2 weeks ago

People protest lots of different things across the political spectrum.

AI

Trump

Musk

Datacenters

Abortion

Transexuals

Fossil Fuels

Windmills

[-] hendrik@palaver.p3x.de 1 points 2 weeks ago

And I bet to some degree, it's different sides of the same coin we're protesting here.

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 9 points 2 weeks ago

I personally have nothing in common with dumbasses who protest against transexuals and windmills. I side squarely with the trans and the windmills.

[-] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Don Quixote has entered the chat

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Wait. I'm unaware of windmills. What are they protesting?

Also, where do windmills still exist?

[-] jqubed@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

The new giant windmills that generate electricity. Mostly they’re protested by people who don’t want to see them, or possibly hear them (I’m not sure that they are actually loud enough to be louder than whatever wind is blowing them unless you’re right next to them), or people upset about the number of birds they kill (although most of the people I’ve seen complaining about the bird deaths seem to be supporters of fossil fuels so their sincerity seems a bit dubious).

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

The generate power, and people protest them because they're worried about marine life as well as magats because of a conspiracy that they kill large birds. One random example was in Bedford, New England last year.

Video of protest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyFJYdSxH5Q

[-] hendrik@palaver.p3x.de 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Oh well. I'll listen to them if they simultaneously show up at the protests against all the subsidies that go towards big oil, all the crude oil that leaks into the ocean, nuclear power plant nextdoors etc.

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

For Real, the Bilgewater from transporting oil alone is horrible for marine life.

[-] hendrik@palaver.p3x.de 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I think most people don't have a clue about energy and all the things that come along with it. It's mostly some stupid culture war. I mean sure an off-shore windfarm doesn't come without a toll on the environment when constructing it. It's just questionable whether any alternative is better than that. And having a windmill nextdoors... Well, just visit the Dutch people or northern Germany and make up your mind. I've been camping next to one and it's okay-ish. Way better than where I live which is a city next to a city with an airport. That's some proper noise nuisance. With the windmills the only really annoying thing is if you're sitting in the shades of the rotors. But there's regulations how they can't be built close to other buildings.

[-] wheezy@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago

Hey. We have more than protesting we can do. We can go to the grocery store and cry. We can scroll through social media feeds filled with Nazi propaganda. We can go into medical debt because we twisted our ankle at work. We can gamble on stock. We can gamble on sports. We can gamble on whether or not a streamer wear shorts. Really, most of what we can do is gamble and hope we win enough to get the fuck out of here.

America. It's all going to shit and we're apparently taking you all with us.

[-] Bazell@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Well, I support the police since it is wrong to eat garbage in public. 🙃

i really hope you used inspect element.

[-] lugal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 weeks ago

Should I post this in "Eat AI"?

Well, he certainly didn't fuck it, or is "eat" a euphemism here?

[-] athatet@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago

He put them in his mouth and chewed on them. So not entirely euphemistic.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com -5 points 2 weeks ago
