holding flashlight under face

Imagine a terrifying world where we are all ruled by monsters of every stripe. And not hot ones like werewolves, but instead decaying zombies and mummies who are both insensitive to, and actively benefit from the immense suffering they cause on a daily basis. The top echelon of society, filled with profit-seeking, bloodsucking vampires. And the worst of it is that they repeat on a daily basis that what they are doing is not only just, but there is no other possible way to do it.

Pretty spooky, right? What if I told you that this world... was our own?

Happy Halloween!

Friendly reminder: when commenting about a news event, especially something that just happened, please provide a source of some kind. While ideally this would be on nitter or archived, any source is preferable to none at all given.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Bahrain summons envoy to Israel, suspends economic relations

Bahrain says it has recalled its ambassador to Israel and halted all economic ties with it.

In a statement, the parliament of the Gulf state said the moves were part of measures taken in support “for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people”.

Bahrain, which established diplomatic ties with Israel in 2020, said the Israeli ambassador to Manama had already left.

The announcement came a day after Jordan said it had also recalled its ambassador to Israel to protest against the “catastrophe” amid Israel’s attacks.

Bolivia this week cut official ties with Israel over the war in Gaza while Chile and Colombia also recalled their ambassadors to Tel Aviv for consultations.

I guess the theory some people had here that Hezbollah/ect wanted to wait for the IOF ground troops to get sufficiently bogged down inside Gaza before launching a real offensive was correct.

Iranians demand a ceasefire in Gaza

Thousands of Iranians gathered on the streets to mark the anniversary of the 1979 takeover of the US embassy in Tehran chanting “Death to America” and “Death to Israel”.

They condemned Washington’s support of Israel as it strikes the Gaza Strip. People assembled outside the former US embassy in Tehran with some burning American and Israeli flags.

Protesters stomped on images of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden. Others carried banners calling the US “Great Satan”.

Parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf addressed the crowds while criticising US support of Israel.

“We consider the criminal US a principal culprit in all these crimes” in Gaza and against Palestinians, he said.

incredibly based, I want to move back to Iran now lmao. I will never forgive my parents for not teaching me Persian.

Netanyahu may not last, Biden and aides increasingly believe - POLITICO

At one point during the trip, Biden advised Netanyahu to consider the scenario he was leaving for his successor — an implicit suggestion that Netanyahu might not be in power for the duration of what will likely be a lengthy conflict.

[...]

A current U.S. official and a former U.S. official both confirmed that the administration believes Netanyahu has limited time left in office. The current official said the expectation internally was that the Israeli PM would likely last a matter of months, or at least until the early fighting phase of Israel's military campaign in the Gaza Strip was over, though all four officials noted the sheer unpredictability of Israeli politics.

"There's going to have to be a reckoning within Israeli society about what happened," said the official who, like others, was granted anonymity to detail private conversations. "Ultimately, the buck stops on the prime minister's desk."

I really liked this article.

archive.today • The Israel-Hamas War Has Created a Divide Among American Chefs - The New York Times

A recent petition signed by nearly 900 food professionals calling for a cease-fire raises, once again, questions of contested cuisines.

But at times it's like The Onion. The unintended punchline is perfect.

“We have this romantic idea that if we eat the same food and break the same bread somehow we can come together, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here,” said Dr. Ariel, who is currently researching the origins of falafel.

Al Jazeera said the Israeli strike in Jabaliya killed 19 family members of one of its video engineers, Mohamed Abu Al-Qumsan. Al-Qumsan’s father, two sisters, brother, two sisters-in-law, uncle and 12 nieces and nephews were killed in what the media outlet condemned as “heinous and indiscriminate Israeli bombing.”

Last week, the wife, son, daughter and infant grandson of Al Jazeera’s Gaza bureau chief were slain in an Israeli strike on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, where they had been sheltering.

BREAKING: Spokesperson of the Yemeni Armed Forces: Armed forces of our country, with the help of Almighty God, fired a large number of ballistic missiles and drones at the targets of the enemy in occupied Palestine. This is our third operation.

EDIT: This attack was on Eilat

Based on our sense of religious, moral, humanitarian, and national responsibility and in response to the demands of our Yemeni people and the demands of the free nations, and in aid to our oppressed people in Gaza, it was imperative for the Yemeni Armed Forces to act with reliance on God in support of the historic plight of our dear Palestinian people.

Our armed forces have launched a large batch of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and a significant number of drones targeting various "israeli" enemy positions in the occupied lands.

The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that this operation is the third one in support of our oppressed brothers in Palestine.

The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that they will continue to execute more qualitative strikes with missiles and drones until the "israeli" aggression stops.

We affirm that the stance of our Yemeni people towards the Palestinian cause is firm and principled, and that the Palestinian people have the full right to defend themselves and attain their complete legitimate rights.

What destabilizes the region and expands the scope of the conflict is the continued existence of the zionist enemy committing crimes and massacres against the people of the Gaza Strip and all of occupied Palestine.

It becomes increasingly frustrating to read any Western press on the topic of China. They always create imaginary internal fighting like they did with Hu Jintao and now Li Keqiang, obsess over China's economy struggling because of real estate, and hype up the number of Chinese migrants illegally crossing into the US. It's all tied up nicely with a quote from places like Freedom House.

I'm not against criticism of China. I just wish I could actually see it without obvious Western fabrications.

🇾🇪 Member of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen, Mohammad Ali Al-Houthi to RT:

::: spoiler The entire Yemeni people are engaged in the confrontation against the usurping entity, not just Ansarallah. The operations of the Yemeni armed forces against the usurping entity will continue if it persists in killing the people of Gaza and besieging them.

We are directing all our weapons to confront this arrogant aggression that believes in no one, accepts no one, and cannot give anyone anything.

Our armed forces have a complete preparation specifically for Palestine and confronting the Jews, and the weapons we use can reach the usurping enemy entity, whether they are ballistic missiles or drones.

We are in complete and ongoing coordination within the framework of the Axis of Jihad and Resistance, and there is an ongoing room for coordination and setting targets.

We call on Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, and all Arab regimes to mobilize their armies as they are not less efficient or capable than us, and there is no excuse for them not to participate in the defense of the people of Palestine.

We call on Russian President Putin to play a contributing role, as the battle is one and the same, and he said that he is fighting in Ukraine against those who stand with the usurping entity in Gaza.

We cannot reveal all our cards, but all options are on the table and are subject to assessment by the operational side of the Ministry of Defense.

We have no concern about the arrival of American aircraft carriers in the Red Sea, as they are within the range of our missiles, and they do not offer more than what is already present with the countries of the aggression coalition against our country.

We salute the fighting brothers in Gaza and say to them continue, and we are with you, and the Arab peoples and everyone are with you.

America has spent its entire history, nearly 280 years, launching and waging continuous wars with the exception of 18 years. America is the one seeking to expand the war, not us, for it is the one that incites wars and continuously works on killing and exterminating peoples and uses the killing of civilians as a weapon for victory.

The Americans are the terrorists, whereas we have the right to defend our homelands, to free ourselves from the American grip, and to exercise full independence over all our territories.

We as Arabs, must constantly move as the Africans did this year, who rose up against the French and the colonizers.

Gaza has demolished what remained of American claims about preserving human rights. They cannot be guardians of international law as they are its violators.

We call on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to direct its weapons, planes, armies, and mercenaries to defend Palestine and the sons of Gaza. We say to the Saudi regime: If you head to those areas in occupied Palestine to fight the entity, you will not need to repeat the cycle in Yemen, and we are ready to hand over Sanaa to you to live with us there, as there will be no harm between us when the compass points in the right direction of enmity towards the occupying entity. Let King Salman bin Abdulaziz, his Crown Prince, and the Minister of Defense come forward to wage war in Palestine against the entity, for it would be an honor for them that removes the disgrace they incurred from their aggression against Yemen

Imagining a scenario where as a half measure Israel is forced out of the West Bank and suddenly 600,000 fanatic settlers have to move into Israel proper. They'll instantly become hostile to the Israeli state and we'll get news about the IDF doing another crazy Waco incident every 5 days until the state collapses or the settlers nuke Iran.

Israel harassing West Bank residents ahead of Blinken arrival

Zein Basravi reporting from Ramallah in the Occupied West Bank.

This is a noticeably busier evening on the Israeli military front in terms of these ongoing operations in the occupied West Bank.

These sorts of constant, consistent harassing, keeping the occupied West Bank and the residents in these communities on edge.

These operations seem to be happening at a higher frequency in the lead-up to the US secretary of state’s visit which should be happening at about 11:00am local time [09:00 GMT on Sunday]. In just a matter of hours, he’ll be coming here.

Blinken is meant to be meeting with the Palestinian Authority President Abbas. No doubt the primary focus of those conversations will be trying to bring about a ceasefire to stop the violence happening in Gaza.

But in parallel, what’s been happening in the occupied West Bank, illegal occupation, settlers attacking Palestinian communities consistently, these ongoing nightly raids by the military, the problem of Israel continuing to slowly digest the occupied West Bank, these will all be issues that no doubt Mahmoud Abbas will raise with the US secretary of state.

But to what end is still an open question.

No level of diplomacy seems to be leading to any solutions or to a halt in the ongoing violence in Palestinian communities, not just in Gaza, but here in the occupied West Bank as well.

France having a very normal one

A new bill in the French senate to outlaw anti-Zionism is absolutely unreal senat.fr/leg/ppl23-021.html

Basically the proposal is that insulting Israel in France would be punishable "by two years of imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros" and "inciting hatred or violence" against Israel would land you 5 years in prison and give rise to a fine of 100,000 euros.

Here is how the bill reads:

"Bill Proposal to Complete the Penal Framework Sanctioning Anti-Zionism

Article 25 of the law of July 29, 1881, on the freedom of the press is restated as follows: 'Art. 25. - Those who, by one of the means stated in Article 23, have denied the right of the State of Israel to exist will be punished by one year of imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros.

'An insult committed against the State of Israel, by one of the means stated in the same Article 23, is punishable by two years of imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros.

'Those who, by the same means, have directly incited hatred or violence against the State of Israel will be punished by five years of imprisonment and a fine of 100,000 euros.'"

Al-Houthi: We say to the Saudi regime:

There will be no harm between us and you when the compass points in the right direction of hostility to the usurping entity.

Is this significant? I'm not that familiar with regional issues and conflicts between these two.

Evil lying fuckers.

In the face of detailed and urgent warnings of catastrophic conditions for civilians in Gaza, an Israeli agency said there was “currently no humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.” The statement from COGAT a part of Israel’s defense ministry, said that the agency was monitoring the supply of water, food, fuel and energy in Gaza and asserted that “the situation is far from crisis.”

The assertion stands in sharp contrast to reports from the United Nations, international aid organizations, accounts from within Gaza and photographs and video documenting dire shortages.
