If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is still Palestine, though we will switch next week to a new country.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The weekly (biweekly?) update is here.

Links and Stuff

The bulletins site is down.

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists

Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Add to the above list if you can.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Last week's discussion post.

US carried out strikes in Syria following attacks on American personnel

The US conducted two strikes on Thursday against facilities in Syria allegedly used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iran-backed groups, the US Secretary of Defence, Lloyd Austin, said in a statement.

The strikes were ordered by President Biden in response to attacks on American personnel in Syria this week.

One US contractor died during one of the attacks after having a cardiac incident while he was sheltering, and 21 US personnel were injured.

“The United States does not seek conflict and has no intention nor desire to engage in further hostilities, but these Iranian-backed attacks against US forces are unacceptable and must stop,” the statement said.

“These narrowly-tailored strikes in self-defense were intended solely to protect and defend US personnel in Iraq and Syria. They are separate and distinct from the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, and do not constitute a shift in our approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict,” the statement added.

Al Jazeera:

Gaza right now

Israeli air raids have destroyed hundreds of buildings in the Gaza Strip overnight, the civil defence service in Gaza has said.
“Hundreds of buildings and houses were completely destroyed and thousands of other homes were damaged,” Mahmud Bassal, a spokesman for the Gaza Civil Defence told AFP, adding that the intense bombardments had “changed the landscape” of northern Gaza.

Everybody take a moment and consider how much Israel's war has damaged the discourse.

Thoughts on Israel and Gaza. It's been 17 days since Hamas launched… | by Barack Obama | Oct, 2023 | Medium

Perhaps most of all, it means we should choose not to always assume the worst in those with whom we disagree. In an age of constant rancor, trolling and misinformation on social media, at a time when so many politicians and attention seekers see an advantage in shedding heat rather than light, it may be unrealistic to expect respectful dialogue on any issue — much less on an issue with such high stakes and after so much blood has been spilled.

But if we care about keeping open the possibility of peace, security and dignity for future generations of Israeli and Palestinian children — as well as for our own children — then it falls upon all of us to at least make the effort to model, in our own words and actions, the kind of world we want them to inherit.

I scrolled to the very end and that's what is there.

---

Edit

I just realized something obvious. I don't know about the rest of the speech but what I quoted - sounds like The West Wing. I can easily hear it in President Bartlet's voice. In fact - it's easier to hear it in his voice than Obama's.

Meanwhile in Finland

(where the natohawks had to admit that the pipeline damage was actually from a dragging anchor, they even found the broken anchor from the site)

our responsible state media has moved on to "China probably dun it!" The ship apparently was from Hong Kong. This produced a headline stating how China is carrying on it's ongoing project of "conquering the world"????

Some serious expert dude cited in the article said how disturbances like this are a good reason for increasing Nato presence in the Baltic.

Can't wait for them to get this narrative bs done and just bring the nukes and nato bases here already, because that is what all this is really about.

Iranian President to Al Jazeera: We support, along with all Arab and Islamic countries and other countries of the world, an immediate ceasefire

The Iranian President told Al Jazeera: The United States and some European countries are obstructing the ceasefire in Gaza, and this is a crime

Iranian President told Al Jazeera: The United States’ calculations in the region are completely wrong and it will not achieve its goals in a new Middle East

Iranian President to Al Jazeera: We are making broad and various efforts and our support for the Palestinians and the resistance is not subject to compromise

Iranian President told Al Jazeera: The resistance in Palestine and the region is independent, the decision is in its hands, and it does not receive orders from Tehran

Iranian President told Al Jazeera: The Zionist entity and American support have no ability to eradicate the Palestinian resistance

The Iranian President to Al Jazeera: The United States knows well our current capabilities and realizes that exceeding them is out of the question

In other action, the Committee approved a draft on the right to food by a recorded vote of 180 in favour to 2 against (Israel, United States), with no abstentions, expressing alarm that in 2020, the number of people lacking access to adequate food rose by 320 million ‑ to 2.4 billion ‑ amounting to nearly a third of the world’s population, and that between 720 million and 811 million people faced hunger.

November 2021

Like I understand why the US would vote against it (agricultural company lobbying), but why would Israel? It really seems like voting against that draft resolution provides no tangible benefit to Israel.

Comparing how China handles their real estate issues with how Canada handles their real estate issues is really enlightening.

“We are going to be left with so many units,” she said in an interview. “And people have these terribly high variable rate mortgages where long-term income won’t be able to cover the mortgages on these properties. Owners will be cash flow negative.

“We will see that – or we will see a ton of [these units] hitting the real estate market, depreciating the values of them. And I don’t think people are going to cash out equal to the mortgage they owe on the property, so investors will be walking away with empty pockets. It’s terrible.”

Boiling down to fundamentals I've encountered two types of arguments in the past few weeks:

Hamas is beheading babies, so retaliation makes sense, Israel has a right to defend itself, Jewish people are entitled to their homeland

deranged, out of touch with reality, historically ignorant

Well Hamas is a conservative islamic organization led by dudes living in Qatar, so they would just create their own apartheid ethnostate lead by rich palestinians

this is just bizarre radlib bothsidesing using a hypothetical outcome to Hamas winning and them not being perfect secular social democrats

And this made me realize that the biggest propaganda achievement by Israel and the US has been convincing people that this is between Israel and Hamas, and not an anti-apartheid insurrection that happens to be led by Hamas among others.

The amount of water for all uses in Gaza has plunged to 3 liters per person/day. Like three liters. Two bottles of pop. For an entire day. By comparison, a single apartment tower uses 100K-200K liters per day.

At what point are people going to respond to pro-Israeli rallies with actual fedposting

I've been noticing an increasing number of people boycotting American media altogether for all the wrong reasons. They mostly claim it's "American woke culture" trying to brainwash their kids into being lgbt. This has lead to more emphasis on Mexican, Korean, and occasionally Chinese media.

‘Security incident’ near Red Sea border with Egypt: Israeli military

The Israeli military has said that is “aware of a security incident” near Israel’s Red Sea border with Egypt, after reports of a blast in the Egyptian town of Taba.

The source of the explosion is unclear.

???????????

edit:

Egyptian media: Five injured after rocket falls on Taba

Egyptian media outlets are now reporting that at least five people have been injured after a missile linked to the Israel-Hamas war fell on a building in the Red Sea town of Taba.

Taba lies just across the border from Israel, with the Israeli city of Eilat nearby.

There has been no official confirmation of the incident from the Egyptian government.

Update For Both The Week Beginning October 9th and October 16th, Kinda

We're (mostly) back on track after the Israel war derailed me. To keep this manageable, for you and me (this takes me more cumulative hours every week than I would like to admit), I've had to substantially limit my criteria of what to include, and also keep things to headlines for this week. This actually wasn't that hard - I'm not sure if all the journalists covering Israel were usually the really productive ones covering exciting events elsewhere or what, but honestly not a ton has happened in the last two weeks. A few elections here and there, the BRI summit, a broken pipeline, and other such things, but not many flashy events outside of Israel.

I have also substantially cut down on the reporting on Israel in the update. Thankfully the list of sources I've curated is now of sufficient quality that I wasn't wading through endless takes like "Israel might be bad, but Hamas is even worse!" and "Over 1000 Israelis brutally murdered by terrorists, also there's a few thousand deceased Palestinians, but that's not important here and they deserve it actually." While an update consisting of a thousand dipshittery articles would be pretty funny in any other circumstance, I don't want their rotten sewage in my updates in this case. And, honestly, I didn't fancy having like 50 headlines slowly showing the number of dead Palestinian children and destroyed buildings increasing as the days went by. Nonetheless there's still a pretty decent number of pieces there, from October 7th all the way to decades in the future to today.

Not like anything I've seen before. Secondary explosions, not bombs, very strange. Israelis might have hit a stockpile or something successfully with this one.

Hamas’s Qassam says it has ‘foiled ground incursion’ in northern Gaza (Al-Jazeera)

Hamas’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, say they have “foiled an Israeli ground incursion into Beit Hanoun and the east of Bureij,” adding that “violent clashes” are now taking place.

A senior Hamas official, Osama Hamdan, has said that Israel was attempting “to create an image of victory”.

“Cutting off communications from the Gaza Strip is an attempt to cover up the crimes of the [Israeli] occupation without any oversight or accountability,” Hamdan added
