President Trump fired Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook on Monday, as the White House attempts to exert more influence over the central bank. Why it matters: It is a legally dubious move that further threatens the central bank's political independence.

It has never happened before, so no one knows how any wrangling over the legality of firing Cook will play out, nor what it will mean for the Fed in the meantime.

Legally dubious? He straight up doesn't have the authority. Just like a customer who tells you, "you're fired," doesn't have the authority.

Yeah well that is true unfortunately in this fuck up time line he gets away with doing a lot of illegal and unconstitutional things. I mean he fired her and promise they will lock her out tomorrow. She will sue but with these fuck up courts he will appeal it to the Supreme Court who will hold that he can fire her. This will be after lower court says "No you can't " then the fifth circuit will overturn that until it can be heard by the Supreme Court.

We are now in a full fascist state the rules we are used to no longer apply. He just made flag burning illegal and they already arrested someone for it. And that shit been legal almost as long as I have been alive.

I don't know how much we are to continue to take before we rise up and say enough is enough. Motherfucking whole of Congress needs to be removed along with the Trump administration. Fuckers should have been impeached 6 months ago with the amount of laws he broke.

Fucker is sending the MILITARY into US cities and all we are getting from the Democrats is hand wringing claiming he cant do that as he does just that. And the Republicans in Congress are just giving him the greenlight as well. We are beyond calling these what it is.

We now live in oligarchy dictatorship. And the more shit he can get away with and receive little to no push back the worse it's going get. We only been dealing with his second term for 7 months. I don't think we can make it through the mid terms and stay intact.

He is also Constitutionally prohibited from holding office, but here we are.

Turning point: the midterms. The stakes couldn't be higher.

They rigged '24, and they're going to rig elections forever til the people do something. You can't vote this away. We didn't vote for it. You will see when they magically actually gain seats in the midterms despite staggeringly low poll #s.

You may be right. Then again, several coup attempts have failed in the past. Hopefully, even the lunatics currently in power won't be able to stem the massive tide next November.

I feel bad for these government workers. They're just regular people, trying to get by in life, raise a family, enjoy a little of that "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" that our founding Fathers promised. Now they have to spend every day, waiting for the ax to drop, for no good reason. You can't plan for it or avoid it. One day, one of them might get some weird idea in their head, and the next thing you know, your fired, and considering yourself lucky that the FBI isn't searching your house.

You've just described the Trump administration in the most favorable way possible.

Illegal is the word they're looking for.
