Just a note: fascists do not believe the things they say. There is no point in arguing with them or criticizing their claims with logic or facts. There is no benefit in pointing out their hypocrisy because they were never presenting those points in good faith. No gotchas work, no clever retorts and no amount of carefully compiled data will be effective against the reasons they claim are the justification for their hate and bigotry, because the hate came first, the justification is an afterthought. They believe the hate, not the justification and no amount of time or effort or proof will logic them out of their hatred. No evidence will change their minds because the things they say are not truly held beliefs. So, don't engage. They want you to waste your time arguing with them about their obviously wrong claims, in part because it wastes your time and energy and in part because taking their lies seriously gives them legitimacy. There is no point, no benefit to trying to disprove them. As far as I've seen the best way to rattle them is to accurately describe their behavior. That's all. Don't listen to their arguments, don't engage with their talking points, don't be sidetracked by their attempts to waste your energy. Focus on the core of whatever issue you're concerned with and don't be sidetracked. For instance, the whole "roman salute" conversation? Bull shit. Obviously. But the more they got people talking about it the more energy people wasted trying to get them to admit the truth. They knew they were lying, that's the point. Their goal was to waste people's time with trivial nitpicks. Do. Not. Engage. Focus on your goals, the points that actually matter in a discussion. Things like: It's irrelevant who started what in Gaza, genocide is wrong. It's irrelevant if George Floyd was a bad person or not, people shouldn't be murdered by the police. It's irrelevant if there has ever been a single instance where a trans person did anything inappropriate in a public bathroom, they are people who deserve the right to exist in public without fear. It's irrelevant what a woman was wearing or if she was drunk or was flirting, there is no excuse for rape. The list goes on and on and their disingenuous points are always only an obfuscation of the core of the argument, which is usually that all people are people and deserve the right to exist safely in this world. Their points will try to create some reason why certain people don't deserve that. They are wrong and they will say any lie to try to manipulate people into believing otherwise.
Wonderfully said!
They need their safe space, because when it comes to damn near any subject, they're wrong, but they can't handle that
Conservatives tend to be very stupid too, and are usually unable to grasp the arguments against their stance, so they get frustrated
I don't bother engaging with them very much
I'll typically keep it to "you're wrong, but I doubt you are willing to discuss things in good faith, so I won't bother explaining why" and ignore them
It's not so much that conservatives are stupid, more that stupid people are conservative. This is why they keep winning.
They resent the correlation between progressive politics and intelligence
And yes, I DO think that I'm better than them.
I usually went with “You’re wrong.” and just left. Never answered or reacted in any way. It drives them furious which is very, very funny to me.
sometimes ill "agree" with them while missing the point on purpose or taking it to extremes, sometimes works but usually goes over their head and they just agree with me lol
I read through this thinking many people don't understand how "flair" works on reddit. If you want to have a fair discussion about r/conservative you need to be able to agree that overall reddit leans Left. I say this as a NON conservative myself. Most all political groups on reddit on the conservative side have a flair policy. You read the group rules and it will clearly state that they will only grant you flair if you are a conservative. Mods will go through your posting history and check you out. If you are a deemed a conservative you are granted flair. This is not a place to argue with conservatives. It's for conservatives to talk among themselves and they don't always agree with each other. REGARDING BANS - If you are not "flaired" the auto mod will reject your post or comment. So the only way you could possibly get banned is if a r/conservative mod actually took the time to go through all the removed posts and comments from the non flaired users. And if that mod saw a comment or post that you made that attacked conservatives they could ban you. But I think it unlikely that any mod is going to go through all the rejected posts and comments.
Delete? They don't even let dissenters post in the first place.
basically say anything against Israel - it will be deleted.
I just got another permanent ban because of that.
Especially if in r/worldnews
its also mostly run by russian bots, and shills. not really surprising. It also makes it to the front page quite often there too, when it used to get buried, conservative subs(adjacent ones too) seems to be making headways, and now Palintir is in on the propaganda.
Bots and shills, sure. But Russian bots? How come?
r/askhistorians is pretty liberal on the delete button
but i think that is part of it working for a sub rather than against it
I remember that one or ask scientists having massive threads with one comment left and the rest deleted lol, but their rules are pretty strict for a reason in that case
You can use comment un-deleting tools to see what the mods remove and what the comments said (to varying degrees of success). Typically, /r/conservative's removed/deleted comments fall into two categories:
1: Dissenting opinions 2: Non-dissenting opinions that say the quiet part out loud
It's rarely ever something that actually goes against the rules in their sidebar.
I think r/conservative has a rule that you need to have conservative opinions to post/comment there. Of course having "conservative opinions" is highly subjective. The mods there will ban you for any opinion they view as not conservative enough.
They're actually just submitting to the system. We live in a system that thrives off inequality. Its tendency is to destroy the weak and favor the ruthless. The more unrestrained, the faster. There are countless instances of this fact.
If you look at socialism, you will see that it has the opposite tendency. It was, and is the far superior system. Its crazy how much better.
Therefore it is you who is in the wrong. If you talk about equality, fairness and other morally sound things in a system that utilizes corruption, you're doing it wrong.
Stop fighting the "opponents" that the system presents to you but fight the system instead. Instead of protesting ice raids, storm the capitol and instate a democratic socialist government.
Edit: dont believe me. Look at this video by 1dime about the capitalist matrix https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mCPN8HxBTZk&pp=ygURY2FwaXRhbGlzdCBtYXRyaXg%3D
There are some crazy feminist groups on reddit if you want to get banned. Like groups that teach women how to exploit men on dates. I have heard of cases of men getting banned for just joining.
Eh, theyve had that in magazines and youtube for years , nothing new being shared, basically make them chase you dont chase them, be distant, have options, etc. Fake cutesy personality. Go from loving to distant, withhold sex type shit. It only works once really, once you catch on to someone doing it they lose all attractiveness. It is hella effective if you don't notice it, sad for the woman targetting younger men.
Woman can have their online private spaces idrc, just think its odd they try to have their exclusive communities on reddit of all places lol, always thought it skewed male heavily. And any male community spouting the same antisocial manipulative nonsense would get removed these days, so its odd the ones for women are kept up, like oh they're just women, they're harmless lol.
that's because /femaledatingstrategy's literal first rule is that it's for women only, they tell you they'll ban men straight up lol
That was the mental junkjard I was referring to.
Link pls? I'd like to check this out.
Don't remember, that was years ago on that other site.
/r/Veganism, maybe?
Though I would wager /r/AskReddit is a top contender if not numero uno.
Yes, I am sure there are.
