What is it with conservatives and cramming every single grievance they have into their fiction in the most ham-fisted manner possible? I'm reminded of the Chapo podcast pointing out this exact thing about Ben Shapiro's wretched thriller novel. I've seen it often enough that I'm convinced there has to be some common underlying reason, but I don't know what it would be.

Perhaps the complete desperate self-absorbption that underlies their worldview leaves them unable to properly contextualize how important their complaints actually are, and how likely other people are to give a shit
