Harley Quinn: OKAY!!!
Was looking for this joke
Actually I think she is quite based, although some iterations make her too much of a straw man, highlighting what people though of feminism and environmentalism.
I came in here ready to defend the DC character but this is about the bad kind so carry on
Nah, I haven't read enough comics to really have an opinion on her. I've heard enough about her to know that she's based, but no opinions stronger than that
same lol
Calamine lotion, a couple benadryl, a tylenol or two and a warm bath occasionally. That and time to allow the toxin to work it way out.
Im one of those freaks who does not really get affected by the stuff. I do a decent bit of back country hiking in areas just lousy w poison ivy/oak and dont really need worry about rashes. I get them occasionally but they typically disappear within an hour or two, if i get them at all. I learned this back in boyscouts when i was very young.
You can prevent poison ivy but only shortly after contact
- rinse skin with water (preferably cold, reduces absorption)
- soap it
- wipe the lather off with something. Do not wash the lather off, this doesn't work as well
I've come in contact with it a lot, used to get nasty reactions, but nothing since I've started this protocol
You should get a prescription for clobetasol from a doctor, or maybe they have something better now. But clobetasol will make it stop itching and heal within a day or two. You can probably go to a clinic like right now if you have health insurance
I heard that the poison ivy chemical is greasy like engine oil and that you similarly have to use degreasing soap to remove it, rather than normal hand or dish soap. Those scrubby napkins that mechanics use should work to clean it off. Not that it's any help now.
Oh no I'm so sorry! You can try washing with TecNu every day, it might speed up the healing process. Not sure what you were doin', but since I became susceptible to poison oak I always bathe in dawn dish soap or tecnu after every hike where I may have come in contact. Just advice for the future
there's some weird fucking vine shit growing in the little front garden (idk what it's called when people plant decorative shit right up next to a house) of our new house and boy am I really glad it's not poison ivy because I just went in there raw doggin' it ripping that shit out with my hands
I would have been fuuuuuuuckedd upppppppppppp
thankfully idk what it is but I think it's virginia creeper or something? it's got big green leaves but the new tendrils shoot out purplish reddish leaves and it seems to climb up stuff with little adhesive sucker discs. kinda looks like pics of virginia creeper but idk
Yeah, was pulling weeds in my front yard and I retired all my boy scout knowledge so I raw dogged a few out of the ground. Didn't realize it was poison ivy until a day later when I had already spread it everywhere.
I know we hate Google on here, but you can always use Google Lens to look plant up. Very helpful to quickly identify things
Yes, your description is Virginia Creeper.
It's a cousin of poison ivy. Those hairy vines are called "arial roots".
Yep don’t forget to thoroughly degrease/wash every article of clothing that you wore on the day of exposure!
I’m sure you’ve already extensively searched desperately for info on salvation (as I did when I had a gnarly poison oak rash) - but just in case, the rash itself is not contagious and there’s nothing to rub off after the initial exposure absorbs into your skin.
Also as others have said, calamine lotion is a lifesaver for the recovery phase. Highly recommend, available OTC at most pharmacies.
If you have access to medical care, a syringe full of fexofenadine is what my doctor gave me upon seeing my weeping limbs so maybe you could ask for that as well! My rash was very stubborn and refused to heal, continuing to weep for weeks until that shot cleared it up overnight. It’s possible you are similarly allergic to poison oak (like, more than normal, actually allergic) if your rashes don’t clear up.
On the bright side, I had such a large area exposed that I’m now mentally immune to itching so I guess that’s cool to look forward to. Hang in there!
The only thing I've ever been told I'm allergic to is poison ivy. So I hope I don't get it.
Suuucks, last time I had this it was on my feet, before I started Tecnu-ing it it got so bad I could barely walk.
Did you get some hydrocortisone cream? I find that helpful for breakouts.
Yeah I got hydrocortisone, putting some of that on when I get home from work
Ivydry is my go-to. Believe it or not, paracetamol helps.
I've had it for about a week now, I've kept the outbreak from getting too bad but it still itches so bad, and I have it EVERYWHERE. On my face and lips, I have a patch in my ear, on my dick, all over my hands and arms, everything is suffering. I already washed myself with dish soap so it's not spreading anymore but goddamn if this isn't hell
