I seem to remember Musk's defence on the paedo thing being that in South Africa, it's not meant to be taken literally and it's just a generic insult.

It’s kind of amazing that some aspect of Christian identity was tied for centuries to the opposition of loans/interests/usury, and that’s just vanished. There’s pseudo historical arguments that “eye of the needle” is a contrived way to describe a gate, or the one I saw here was “all things are possible through god, so the point is that god is powerful enough to save rich people.”
