Read and watched all the source material today. It has officially been 41 hours of not sleeping. I literally ended it talking about the symbology of cubes (in reference to the Kaaba) and its either fire or the worst essay I have ever wrote.

and no I am not sharing that shit lol. How is y'all's experience with academia this finals season?

Hardest one i had was a ten page investigation of the World system of walleirstein that i finished in a day

Most fun one was the conection between México and Sichuan cuisine via the introduction of the capsicum

That second one actually sounds damn interesting. No idea what the world system of walleirstein is but I will look it up

Edit: ah yeah that sounds rough af for a single day affair 😬

i never published it, but i used this article in my bibliografy that also talks about it https://worldhistoryconnected.press.uillinois.edu/12.3/wang.html

one fun fact is that at the start the chinese didnt like chilli only seeing it as a pretty plant, it wasnt until the Qing's new taxes on Salt that chilli was used by the lower classes as a replacement for salt in the internal provinces of Sichuan and Guizhou

If there are no hot peppers, there is no Sichuan.

A man who dares to eat hot peppers fears nothing; all of our Red Army soldiers loved spicy food.

If there are no spicy [peppers], there is no revolution

Is that a real quote?

I used to love getting this dish called "Red Revolution" at a Chinese place that was near my apartment. It was basically fish and mixed seafoods in really spicy hot pot. Absolutely delicious peppery broth, so many whole red peppers in it. I miss that place, shame they got bought out and closed down.

not many people know this, but The Weeknd's song "Can't Feel My Face" is about how much he enjoys Sichuan peppercorns

I am willing to accept this as fact without question actually

I genuinely want to read it, if you don't mind! I'm very interested in cube symbolism. [EDIT: I just noticed you say in advance you weren't sharing it. If that is so, could I at least have one or two of your sources you used regarding cube symbolism?]

[-] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

you'd be sorely dissapointed. It was a sectional essay on a documentary. There is one source and it had nothing to due with cubes I just happen to have knowledge and curiosity on the subject. My writing on cube symbolism was raw speculation about why humans might see a cube as divine. My analysis generally boiled down to, cubes are a very artificial shape and maybe to worship them is to revere the human ability to create as divine. Or perhaps the cube appeals to us because our ability to create is what we saw as seperating us from animals. Or maybe we saw our creation as proof of our innate connection to the divine. It isn't that deep as I was pretty tired.
