My brain is fried. One more to go and things can slow down a tiny bit.

Also, I'm so fucking sick of pharmacists treating me like dirt because of what's on my safe script.

What's the point of being in healthcare if you're going to be judgemental about what medication people take?

Same issue with nurses. I guess everyone needs someone to look down on.

Fucking scumbags.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

Just pure racism and classism at its finest. You're on a 'controversial' medication and aren't a white man. That's it, that's all it is. I want to slap every healthcare worker (drs, nurses, pharmacists, mental health worker) who hold those views. It's fucking gross and I'm so angry on your behalf. Fuck.

I'm sorry man, your needs are LEGITIMATE and the problem only lies with those judgy cunts.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

I’ve had some amazing experiences with nurses and some downright horrible ones that shouldn’t even be working in the industry.

The least they could do is be professional and keep their thoughts to themselves but some just can’t help themselves.

I’m sorry you had to go through that. It’s never nice.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

take care ,

and you don't need to justify yourself to them, you have a doctor

if you are feeling grouchy you could always tell your doc you are being harassed

I think the interview went well! It was my first ever "dual" interview, so there was another applicant there. But it was a very casual interview with the owner of the cattery. Her dog was also there and just was all over me wanting pats πŸ˜‚

I should know by tomorrow!

I ended up walking and chatting with the other applicant, and she was so freaking cool! She's doing a PhD in archaeology, which I asked lots of questions about haha, and she was so down to earth - I walked her to her bus stop because she doesn't know the area well, and we added each other on insta πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (3 children)

A dual interview sounds so weird. A group interview makes sense, but when it's you and one other person it feels like you're meant to compete with each other directly.

I had mentally allowed myself two days for looking at cars. As it only took a couple of hours I now have a lot of unexpectedly open time to fill. I might do an op shop run and try to finish off my couch.

Does anyone else write off stupidly large amounts of time to do things that are not actually that time consuming? I seem to do it all the time, which often means I put off things because I "don't have enough time" and then when I do get them done end up with lots of extra free time.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I’m the opposite. I put things off, especially unpleasant tasks, but severely overestimate what I can get done in a timeframe. (I don’t really believe it, I just like to convince myself I will do it later to feel less guilty about procrastinating). Then mad panic ensues. I need to find a way of doing unpleasant tasks.

But more importantly, congratulations on the car! And yay for having spare time to do other fun stuff!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

I only tend to do that for uni assignments - sure I can write up 5000 words after work on the day it's due!!

I pick up the car on Thursday. I'm going to add clearing out the small shed I have at the end of the carport and putting it onto Marketplace, I'll have an extra 13cm of car to fit in and need that space back so the new vehicle doesn't have her butt hanging out 🀣

Morning! Does the new bot pick the emoji in any meaningful way?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

Broinglorid made it, probably so their lemmy feed wasn't filled with constant notifications of

"Right sock, left sock, left shoe, right shoe."

Which is the highfalutin content we're here for.

Saw a massive black rat climb in under the dishwasher last night. Have to head down the bellarine today and turn the alarm on here. Bugger. Thing would surely set it off.

Never seen a rat in the house before, just a few mice back in the day.

Hrmm

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

Time for a cat. Is Butters available for a ratting consultation?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Massive Dislike! Pet rats nice, dishwasher rats bad.

Day 4 of new gig.

Figuring shit out and taking some initiatives.

Sounds wanky, but trying to make a good impression.

Meeting more people and everyone still seems cool.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

nah not wanky just common sense, good work!

Finally made it down the coast. Bus replacement from wyndham vale to geelong made it a lengthy trip. Bit chaotic, no one seemed to know which bus was going where (including the drivers lol).

But it's always interesting taking that bus through those newish estates out west to see how they're going. People have planted things, but not things that provide any shade. The amount of synthetic lawn is pretty crazy. Just a massive heatsink. Also the walking tracks are always empty which is a shame as they look quite nice.

Before leaving decided to borrow both Situationcake's and Dumblederps ideas. Hoping the steel wool works, but if it gets through...

Behold, the ROTATING BOTTLE ON A STICK OVER A BUCKET 2000β„’ (that is pb not poo).

Let's see how we go.

I set up my rainbow of glass πŸ™‚ It took me a long time to collect, each is a real colour glass, not painted glass. There's some cenedese and nason in there

whats everyone running around with for a backpack? I've got a cheapy dell from ozbargain which isnt bad, but its pretty big and heavy for not great storage options and its a bit ostentatious. Eyeing off a Status Anxiety "Good Kid" and a Bellroy Classic.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Stopped in at NQR while I was out. I am about to find out whether cheese and bacon filled potato cakes are a good idea of a travesty that should never have been allowed to exist.

Ah autumn. Flanno - too cold. Oodie - too hot. Now snuggled into old fav hoodie. Just right. Plus fingerless gloves (years driving a keyboard == sore joints on a cold morning)

My girlfriend was saying she needs a way to track things at work better because she's supposed to be leading the baby room.

I told her what she needs is a G-Shock or something similar. It has alarms, timers, can beep on the hour and some models have a button that can start the countdown timer without diving into menus.

And it does it all in a simple and privacy respecting way that's sufficient for a childcare worker.

I bought a cheap Casio watch one time she's using to try it out, and if it's working we can get her an upgrade

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

The poms go on and on about Jammie Dodgers like some Aussies do about Tim Tam's so the kid and I decided to give em a burl. Well, they are the most boring tasteless biscuit ever. The jam definitely saved the biscuit. A just passable 3/5 yum yums.

I worked such long days this week that I didn't even need to take any leave last week despite not working 2 out of 3 days πŸ™ƒ that's good though, gotta bank up that leave for upcoming uni stressout sessions.

More Project Hail Mary tonight. Only about 15% of the way in but this is a v entertaining read!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Oooh you're on the Project hail Mary hype train! Audiobook or book?

TW medicalI had my first iron infusion today. -_- Really hoping it helps. I’m so tired of struggling to get up or move. At least it was delivered in a bonus bag of saline so I didn’t have to get iv fluids from the hospital. (Been dodging the er no matter how dehydrated I get because reasons.)

Complaining about moneyTrying to buy some basics for the community pantry because I haven’t been able to get there in a while and I’m appalled at the Colesworth costs.

$10 for a bag of powdered milk, get fucked ya greedy cunts. $8 for a bag of oranges. Generic milk bricks don’t cost much less than brand. I’m hitting up the cheap basics that stretch far like pasta and sauces, rice, noodles, oats, tinned soup spaghetti and baked beans, PB, milk bricks, sugar, tea (also bar soap, TP, toothpaste and menstrual products) but there’s not anything fresh.

I regret being so low income myself.

And my tiny garden isn’t stepping up hard enough. It’s probably costing more to grow than the produce would in the shop.

Unfortunately I’m not able to shop in person and Aldi isn’t always cheaper on everything… but maybe when I’m less slammed with tests and appointments I can ask to go there and suss out what the best value items are. I really wish they had kept the old β€˜shopping list’ feature so you could compare prices on items before going.

Holiday time 😺 Have acquired paint sample pot. Have also been told I look like Madam Mim. Some may be offended at being called a fat, purple, witch. Not me.

Wow okay, so I've been watching yt (just trash stuff), and the political campaign ads for the election have started cropping up.

There's one that I always skip, that feels like utter fear mongering - it seems to just focus on how awful the greens are, talking about inheritance tax and migration and alleged sexual abuse survivors talking about their time in the greens party (alleged of course, because I haven't seen much news about sex abuse in the greens party, just the liberal party lol). But because I always skipped it, I didn't know who was sponsoring it... It's Advance Australia party πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

Of course they don't talk about their OWN policies, of course it's all about how "terrible" and "scary" the greens are πŸ™„πŸ™„

I rolled my eyes so hard I've sent them into orbit. At least the ads for the greens and for labor talk about THEIR OWN policies. Of course a racist bullshit party can only drag other parties through the mud and never have the courage to lay out their own agendas.

Fuck I hate the right.

"You can apply for a postal vote with this form,"

Goddamit
