But commenting about where to post it gets more comments than just posting it would.
Fancy!
I'm only sharing the secret of what I had for dinner with the Tucker Time thread π€£
It worked out ok - I usually find bought pita bread to be too dry and it cracks, so I heated it in the oven wrapped in a damp tea towel. It worked perfectly, it wrapped up fine without breaking up at all.
I only took a pre-wrap photo, as once it was wrapped I was too busy shoving it into my mouth!
Chicken souvlaki. The wrap I am planning to use is frozen and may not be in the best condition, I may end up with souvlaki guts everywhere.
It is extremely frustrating. In good news though the person buying my mortar and pestle turned up, so now I have $20 and don't have to lug the thing to the op shop. Winning!
At least it is a change from Marketplace's "Is this available?"
Finished listing my stuff on Gumtree. Have received two scam messages so far.
Camping gear has now been mostly sorted - there are a couple of tubs of stuff like cooking gear that will need to be sorted out to either donate or throw out, but all the bigger bits I intend to sell have been photographed. Now I need to do the listings and cross my fingers.
Cupboards are all moved. I am now exhausted, but still need to put away a few things and sweep the decking the cupboards were moved off (and have some stern words to the encroaching blackberries there). And just for fun the people who have made offers have not got back to me to acually confirm a pickup time βΉοΈ.
Where the cupboards are now has more space so I should be able to take better photos to relist. I might try Gumtree this time.
I think there are two types of mid life crisis, which loosly correlate to 40 & 50 years (but are probably more influenced by life events than the actual age).
The first is realising you've reached an age where you expected to achieve or have a bunch of things you want, and you might either realise that some goals are not going to happen, or might decide it's time to go out and buy or do things you've been planning for "later".
But the second one is more confronting - you realise your body is starting to slow down, you have parents who are needing care or passing away, and you realise retirement is on the horizon rather than a far distant future. Some people use it this realisation to accept and plan for the future. That's what I've been doing, I've worked out finances, plans for retirement, plans for caring for my parents and eventually plans for myself to wind down and move into supported accommodation or aged care. It's surprisingly reasuring, instead of a scary void in the future I have realistic plans and know I have finances in place to have a decent retirment - if things go well there might even be some room for extravagence!
Other people get scared at the second stage and choose to deny it instead. They fob off planning for old age with "when I get like that just take me out and shoot me" and refuse to concede to the reality of an aging body - these are the people who fall off ladders trying to clean the gutters, have nasty accidents because they refuse to stop driving, or fall over, break a hip and lie on the floor for hours becuse they refuse mobility aids and emergency alerts. If they have also YOLO'd the "kid's inheritance" away without realising it was actually their own aged care funding they were spending they can end up in a pretty shitty place. It's a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy - avoiding planning for aging because you are scared of it tend to create the sort of situations that make aging something to be scared of.
Today is cupboard moving day. I have a bunch of outdoor cupboards in the back yard I need to move to the front so I can sell them. It is a pain in the butt not having good access between the front and back yards. Plus I am going to have to move my car out onto the street until I can get rid of them because there is no space for them. Fingers crossed it won't take too long.
Edit: Cupboard moving is not going as badly as I feared. Two have been moved, six more to go. I think I'll take advantage of the car being out of the carport to pull out the camping gear to list too.
I had sandwiches for lunch. Cheese and pickle.
