This month’s report is run without data from Reddit because of the migration of the Pushshift API. Reddit accounts for nearly half of the material used in this report. Its exclusion adversely impacts the tracking of Conspiracy/Fringe and Extreme-Left forums

We talked about overturning the tables of the moneychangers in the marketplace of ideas, which is of course extremism.
The forums with the greatest use of Violent/Aggressive discourse in November were in Health Misinformation, scoring higher than Incels/Femcels and the Extreme Right (Fig. 7).
Kinda surprised by this tbh. I know antivax weirdos and such were not the most pleasant of people but worse than the nazis?
I keep tabs on the anti-vax forums, it's actually not that hard to peel people off from hating pharma/Gates/et al. for stupid reasons, to the correct reasons. It's way harder to get the racism out of them. But anyway, honestly it seems a lot more likely to me that they're in the stats for the same or similar reasons to why this site is. "Landlords kill" versus "another vaccine death" and whatnot, the way these stats appear to have been compiled would both count as violent.

That is correct. When the chapo subreddit and others were hot shit they had better stances than here. However I feel that the baseline understanding of this site is quite nice.

Because the sample size for "extreme left" is like 5000 posts/month and they probably tagged every Ukraine mega thread as violent. There's also the adventurism posts and

They didn't analyze the content of violent posts, just the language. All violence on hexbear is violence proposed as defense against state or reactionary violence where the alt right sites are calling for genocide.
My hope is that there is substantially more of "the extreme left" in the global south who aren't posting in English (or posting at all but just chatting to each other).
There's more of the "extreme left" on Reddit too, it just seems like this dude has a bone to pick with us specifically. He didn't include Lemmy, Mastodon, or Twitter either. Seems like he didn't pick any big socialist/left wing subreddits either. Anti work, Sino, Genzedong, etc.

Research like this is so dumb, it is simply impossible to find information from qualitative data by using keywords, but I guess polisci majors need to do something with their degree.
