This may actually start a revolution in America.

The waffle-house keeps this whole thing we call a country running

that grits/hashbrown bowl of "Bacon, Egg & Cheese" looks like it would make me dizzy when I try to stand up after eating it, just from the salt content.

anyway, there's this whole school of genius food prep efficiency in how waffle house plates food. there's this methodology to how they orient the plates and ingredients to make communication down the line intuitive for the short order and flipping what goes where/how so it all completes on time for the table.

anyway, somebody was explaining to me how it worked and it occurred to me you could take that exact model but replace all the ingredients with like actual good, fresh shit and reverse engineer the entire waffle House menu to make a 24 hour "artisanal" diner that absolutely crushes the food scene by flipping tables fast and more or less passing through the ingredient costs, but taking full advantage of the prep and service efficiencies instead of gatekeeping good food made with quality ingredients behind the Aristocrat-For-A-Meal model of most farm to table restaurants.

personally, I don't get anything out of somebody having to pretend to be my eager servant at a restaurant. I'll take a casual diner, a deli or a cafeteria any day.

I think it's just a remnant of old school diner cooking. Before McDonald's industrialized fast food, local diners that served cheap, and relatively fast, food all over the country. It generally wasn't the highest quality or the healthiest (though diners usually had at least some healthier options like salads and wraps) but it was better than the slop most fast food places produce now and the people cooking it actually had to have some culinary skill. McDonald's basically destroyed this by automating the process so that hungover teens could do it and make everything basically pre-made microwaved crap.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

I understand that centralized production can provide efficiencies that you simply cannot achieve with a distributed production model.

However, a distributed production system is also far more resilient in the face of things like bird flu.

All that to say, get yourself some pet birds comrades. Ducks, chickens, pheasants, doesn't matter, they're all super cute and will reward your love and care with eggs you can eat.

Nothing beats a duck wiggle when they realize you're tossing them some veggies or mealworms.

Or don't, eat beans instead of exploiting non-human comrades

If you’re against people individually owning chickens for eggs are you also against owning cats and dogs?

Are you just against the existence of chickens? Genuinely I do not understand this take, household chicken ownership is like, the most ethical way for chickens to exist.

Online leftists are so concerned with doing no wrong that they instead do no good. Yes, it is a bit exploitative to own modern chickens bred to produce ridiculous amounts of eggs at detriment to their body.

It’s also exploitative for humans to exist beyond very early pre-civilization states as any use of natural resources and metals represents a theft from the Earth that will never be restored in that humans lifespan.

But i can, and have, used those eggs to ease human suffering at a homeless shelter. I’ve used SPAM (yes, it’s horrific, I understand and agree. To say otherwise is missing the point) to the same effect.

Yes, using animal products is anti-communist at its core principle.

So is letting people starve in the street.

That’s not to jump on a slippery slope where the ends justify the means. But to be so concerned with well intentioned folks that treat animals with care whenever possible, while leftists are out there every day having to hide their actions and act in secrecy just to help folks…. I dunno.

Holy shit, a bona fide anti-vegan reactionary on hb, I thought yall went silent back when vcj migrated here

[–] [email protected] 9 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I wouldn't call what they did "migration" since they weren't even banned from reddit-logo or anything, it was more like they were invited in and broke a longstanding peace by engaging in a harassment campaign against long time users (some of whom left because of this and never came back) over a weekend that all the mods decided to either collectively logout or those that were there decided to look the other way

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

What are you even talking about, "long standing peace" and "harassment campaigns"? They started posting eating memes about dogs and local scratched anti-vegans tried to turn it into an anti-asian hate thing when there was no such element there at all. That was the "campaign". It's like calling out people who post cracker memes for doing "harassment campaigns"

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 hours ago

No they did way more than that by frequently posting about r*pe with no content warnings among a host of other issues. Some of them were cool and have stuck around and are on the mod team but don't act like that conflict was in any way one sided.
