At the speed with which this administration is pushing new legislation, it kinda shows how easy it to actually pass shit instead of this interplay between different government bodies, representatives, legalism and other bullshit slowing down progressive policy. "Noooo Obama couldn't codify Roe V Wade because looking at subsection 7 of the Structures of Parliament document B of the 1996 edition it says that..."

Alot of stuff will be held up in courts, but if you fling enough shit at a window, eventually somethings gonna break through.

Proposing new legislation happens all the time from both parties, thousands of bills per Congress. Most a doomed to die from the start. This link has a bunch of bills proposed the week of 1/9/23:

I don't think we can say Republicans are getting shit done until they pass some of these. The media is just covering this stuff now because the Trump admin doing scary stuff is good at selling papers.

I'm not saying they won't succeed, it's just too early to say.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

I do think it's much more difficult to pass something progressive, even given an honest attempt.

They're gonna ban Chinese food cause you are what you eat.

[–] [email protected] 50 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

xok-og how many doushabao do I have to eat before I get citizenship

[–] [email protected] 38 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

doushabao

Oh, you just lost your citizenship here. You said a scary Chinese word.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 weeks ago

Fortunately, I've never had USA citizenship, but I will gladly go on a no-fly list for my love of red bean buns.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 weeks ago

Getting black bagged because I said "long time no see" to a friend.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They are renaming eggrolls to Freedom Rolls, aren't they?

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It'll just be a hotdog in egg roll wrap.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

No shit, here in Texas, gas stations wrap hotdogs in tortillas. So, you might actually be correct in this hypothetical.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 weeks ago

specter Spring rolls are Commie Rolls!

[–] [email protected] 45 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Now if only we did this to gamers

[–] [email protected] 34 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Oops, you downloaded league of legends? Life in prison, no trial.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 weeks ago

Tencent has the opportunity to do the funniest thing possible by rolling out Deepseek AI features in LoL

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 weeks ago

Your honor...

League of Legends

And consequently the USA is going to seriously lag behind the rest of the world in AI technology, because their companies can't work with the most advanced open source LLM.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Well, it's open source, so can't the US AI companies just copy it?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Not if we believe that bill. Deepseek is still a copyrighted intellectual property from the PRC even though it's distributed under an MIT license.

Maybe we have a lawyer here that can confirm.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

NAL, but done a lot of work with software licensing. If the source and model are all licensed under MIT, then Deepseek has allowed anyone else to copy, sell, etc. the software. But that doesn't stop Deepseek being the intellectual property of its creators (and thus its 'import' prohibited per the wording of the bill).

Americans are quickly learning that their so called freedom of speech was always dependant on how well if serves the capitalist regime.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

yeah, watch them just do 'it was better back then' with no thoughts in their head.

[–] [email protected] 44 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

sentenced to 20 years hard labor in the dick sucking mines because windows 12 used AI to predict that you would want an AI app installed and downloaded Deepseek

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 weeks ago

Your psychopass coefficient indicates that you're 80% likely to consider using foreign technology to cheat on your homework. Off to the labour camp, criminal.

Prediction time: martial law in the US before this year is over.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Adding to that prediction: Trump is going to post about it on whatever the fuck Twitter clone he's hawking now, and misspell it as "marshall" law. Libs will go full hamberder on it again, as is tradition.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 2 weeks ago

I downloaded it as soon as it came out because this shit is hilariously predictable.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 weeks ago

I jokingly said once to few people US would ban deepseek over embracing it in future. Seems like US is that predictable in blowing itself up.

"As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master."

-Commissioner Pravin Lal, "U.N. Declaration of Rights"

For those who didn't know like me, this is a quote from a video game. Not an actual U.N. commissioner.

Business idea: contact a European friend who likes AI to keep a server running for a deep seek fork repository. The fork? The read me file has a picture of a cat that's not in the AI technology coming out of China. So you're importing original, German AI instead of tech coming out of the PRC. The weights are, of course, the L1 / B3 weights that have been modified by a single digit. If there's a deep seek fork you're interested, you can have an automated system for requesting a fork a German Seek that includes it.

It's a $5/yr subscription.

Torrents need to be set up for this stuff if they don't already exist

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

When are the Re-neducation centres coming

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

How did you know about my Neducation^TM^ Centers?!?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If you want to run stuff on your PC there is LM Studio I discovered last night. It has it's own catalog / search,, and you can also go to AI models themselves and slap them in the folder and they will work. You can customize the resources and other variables.

I am not very versed in AI stuff at all, but they load, can hear my GPU crank for answers and they work very nice plug and play style. Haven't found any that would draft legislstion yet though. sicko-wistful They all go HAL 9000 "I'm sorry I can't do that, Dave." then glitch out when you ask them or confront them about it.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Either apply a jailbreak prompt (google " jailbreak") or look for an abliterated version of the model (usually suffixed with "-abliterated").

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

Cool. I'll have to check those out.
