I was once in a discord where chat was slowed down to like 5min per message in general, 30min per for bug reports/complaints, at a time where the launcher had a bug with a fairly simple workaround that would be easy to direct the deluge of users towards... If you could speak more than once every 5 minutes. People were constantly shooting their once per 5min shot, and the answer was constantly being drowned out by a combination of yapping and new people asking the question. The answer was not pinned, tho even if it was you couldn't just tell people to check pins because you couldn't send them a reply to begin with.
They put the timers in to deal with the influx of people complaining that they couldn't play the game. I couldn't help keep the answer in view because I wasn't a moderator, and all of the mods/admins only wrote a few messages an hour telling people to shut the fuck up π₯΄
This was basically my exact experience.

I attempted to report a bug in the report system of Throne and Liberty via the bug section of Amazon Games' discord for the game. You couldn't send reports (in-game) if the report included the words nazi or hitler or fascism in the report because those were no-no words in the chat, which for some reason was also applied to the report system.
-
I was automatically banned for using the word nazi in that bug report on the discord because they setup their automoderator on discord to autoban people using that word among others.
-
I went to Amazon support online, explaining this.
-
They told me "there is no appeal process".
They do not care.
I have evidence:
Your feedback is helping us build Earth's Most Customer-Centric Company
Theyβre incredibly poor repositories of long term information compared to forums. I also canβt understand why an entire industry is wedding itself to a closed product that could lock up and disappear whenever and however it wants.
it's one of those really nice microcosms of capitalism
I despise game discords. Give me a message board I can scroll through 10 years later.
Seconded. Bonus points if it's a 10 year old post that actually details how to fix something and hasn't been deleted by mods with an axe to grind for literally no reason.
Discord mods are the people who couldnβt make the cut at the Lawn Enforcement Division at the local pigpen.
Pretty much every stupid discord i have to join formats information horribly and the only active chat is always off-topic where the users argue over which form of fascism is better
Its damned near every game specific discord I swear.
Caves of Qud devs and mod team are great. Some youtube asshole directed his viewers to brigade their discord because you can't join the fascist faction, and their response was "Good. It makes you all much easier to ban."
Don't worry, you can always go onto Reddit and have a snarky nerd insult you for literally no reason
one time i made a post asking for basic advice, saw i got 6 comments, opened it, and the top comment was just someone making a corny one liner, with all the other comments piggybacking off said one liner trying to be even cornier

one time i got a "The search bar exists for a reason... I'm sure this question's been asked here before." MF I JUST SCOURED THE INTERNET FOR 15 MINUTES, THE CLOSEST THING I FOUND ON UR SUBREDDIT WAS ASKED 9 YEARS AGO AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY HELPFUL REPLIES EITHER
i hate having to join discords and then having to leave them when i'm done with the thing i needed. why tf are people hosting small files on a discord? put it on mediafire or something PLEASE. nevermind having to interact with people on discord.
Glad we have this mess instead of centralized game help message boards. So much easier.
I also love when a thing updates and you have to go to discord to see the patch notes, but you don't want to do that so you update it anyway and then your entire thing breaks forever and corrupts your shit because they only mentioned that you have to jump through an extra hoop first on their discord. It's such a good and efficient system
Someone on here made a patch for a game I like and they forwarded me to the discord it was hosted on and I lost the link. HATE this shit. Everything is like paywalled behind an app that sucks and is full of garbage people.
Even the steam game forums are better
Ph
it's such a bad format for that kind of thing
i've never gotten into the discord thing.. it has always been so vile
Or when you post logs for a bug report or just ask for help setting shit up, something in your logs or description gives away you pirated the game, suddenly no one wants to help you, and they all give you shit about feeling entitled to the work of others like wtf
Thankfully right now it's about a game on a private server so everyone pirated the game, thankfully, but that sounds like a personal hell.
