Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Image is of many Hamas soldiers supervising the handing over of Israeli hostages to cars heading out of the Gaza Strip.

After 15 months of genocide - and resistance to it - the Israeli regime realized that they could not win a military victory against Hamas, and were forced to sign a humiliating ceasefire in order to get their hostages returned.

With much of Syria under the control of Al-Qaeda, and an increasing level of covert infiltration into Lebanon, the crisis in the Middle East is not over, and we may still be in its beginning stages, as the center of hegemony continues its gradual shift away from the United States. Their navy, once considered the best in the world, is likely also not very happy about their ships and aircraft carriers being forced to retreat by Yemen, one of the poorest countries; and all eyes are on Iran, who has, over the last year and a half, demonstrated a newfound confidence and strength to directly strike Israel.

The recovery for Gaza will take, at a minimum, decades; it could indeed never fully recovery to even how it was before, considering it is not in Israel's interests to see their concentration camps recover. But Hamas has proven to be steadfast and the tunnel network has proven its resilience, despite facing some of the most powerful conventional bombing in history. This shows that Palestine's liberation is a when, not an if; and hopefully a much sooner "when" than expected before October 7th.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news.
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Hey would ya look at that, Tik Tok is back and it's tamping down on pro-palestine content like the rest of the American social media companies are.

This is from November 2024 but tiktok hires Israeli intelligence freaks in their operations (https://www.mintpressnews.com/288710-tiktok-isnt-anti-israel-its-hired-unit-8200-agents-to-run-its-affairs/288710/) so it's been kind of funny reading some recent stuff on the whole ban attempt.

The Trump administration moved quickly to shut down a government app that allows migrants to schedule appointments to enter at a port of entry. Nearly a million immigrants entered this way during the time it was in place. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection website says the application is down and appointments are cancelled.

Well, they're not wasting any time. They're already shutting down and cancelling asylum appointments. Wishing everyone the best who will be profoundly affected by this administration.

Not looking forward to more migrant returns to Guatemala. Locals treated them like garbage last time and accused them of being walking Covid hives.

Panamanians burn the U.S. flag outside of the embassy in Panama City. They’re protesting Trump’s interventionist remarks regarding the canal. Panamanians protest Trump's recent statements about regaining control of the Panama Canal, calling it a direct attack on Panama’s sovereignty.

[–] [email protected] 46 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Hell yeah, the great tradition of burning the American flag is spreading

I’m a little shocked to hear that. Nearly every Panamanian I’ve met loves the US.

I think the Canal is like the Malvinas/Falklands and Essequibo situation, where both the left and the right have this national pride in a patriotic issue. Iirc, the Canal Zone was practically a mini-colony of the US, where they treated Panamanians badly and had people killed by US colonial police and Zonians (settlers) during the 1960s.

But then again, they did elect a president who was hiding inside an embassy, and the same dude (or his VP) decided to support Edmundo Gonzalez (Juan Guaido 2). Really funny how this guy will have to deal with a political crisis because his master turned against him.

It seems that Michele Bolsonaro (his wife) and one of his sons were unable to attend Trump's inauguration. They weren't invited and hadn't bought tickets to attend. They paid to meet Steve Bannon at a Heritage Foundation dinner. Now it seems she's been posting random photos of herself around Washington D.C.

Did they really played a footage from full metal jacket to show what is the ideal model of the US military?

Not surprising tbh

More than 630 humanitarian trucks enter Gaza after ceasefire. The trucks were prohibited from entering the area by Israeli forces, despite requests from international organizations and other UN countries.

United States President Donald Trump: "We gave it to Panama and we are taking it back" Trump restated his vastly debunked idea that China is somehow operating the Panama Canal. He asserted that the U.S. will take the canal from Panama.

Lol, and Panama will keep supporting Juan Guaido 2.0 and being a US puppet. The Panamanian people don't deserve this.

[–] [email protected] 36 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (2 children)

We need a South American Ansarallah to control the canal

Panama lacks an actual army since 1989, when the US invaded Panama to take down Manuel Noriega (A CIA agent who became the dictator of Panama after he helped the CIA kill the SocDem Military Dictator of Panama, Omar Torrijos) because Noriega had been refusing to obey some orders the CIA gave him, took some of the drug money to himself and was getting close with the Soviets.

The US invaded them and dissolved the Panama Defense Forces (Panama's Army) and forced them to accept a bunch of changes. Since then Panama have always been ruled by Pro-US presidents.

According to Trump's deputy chief of staff, around 100 decrees and executive actions are expected to be signed today at the White House after the inauguration ceremony, including measures against immigration, LGBT people and women.

Diversity, equity, inclusion and gender policies will be repealed through executive orders. The functional stability of federal employees will be eliminated in the first hours of government. Trump will declare a “National Emergency” on the border with Mexico to unblock Defense funds.

The “Remain in Mexico” policy will be reinstated along the lines of his first term. It pressured the Mexican government to stop the flow of migrants at the country's border, since migrants who entered with asylum claims were returned to Mexico until their asylum was granted.

New nearest year of 4 presidents is trump lives to 2028 (lmao), and biden is elected (lmao)

[–] [email protected] 24 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (2 children)

I think you're missing the possibility of Trump passing and then Vance passing after that. Four presidents could still happen this very year.
