The Liberals, headed by Trudeau, have not been doing so hot lately. Polls have been rather poor, showing the party far behind the Conservatives, and the Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland (an outspoken apologist for Ukrainian Nazis) resigned recently, with more MPs following her lead. Trump's return to power has shaken the Canadian establishment due to his threats to impose massive tariffs on Mexico and Canada, which will have substantial economic consequences given that Canada sends most of its exports to the US, compounding the economic malaise that has affected most of the world over the last few years.
With all this bad news, there are rumors and reports that Trudeau will soon resign, ending his nine years of rule. His fall would be yet another casualty in the wave of incumbent parties falling across the imperial core, only to be replaced by more conservative parties that have very similar policies but wish to cast all blame and hardship onto minorities.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Not necessarily news but relevant given the LA fires and other recent natural disasters in the USA alone. There is some kind of poetic justice here that the empire that threatens the environment of the only home that humans have, should receive the worst of its wrath when it isn't respected (of course most of the people don't deserve this). Also curious that what gives the USA a geopolitical advantage (being between two very large oceans etc) also creates for more varied and possibly violent climate.

US exceptionalism even in climate catastrophe. Climate models predicted that continental USA would be less impacted than more populated regions of the globe and was factored into the risk equation in releasing more GHGs. Now fucking PBS is asking me to treat USA catastrophic climate events with more concern than, say, my neighbours whose houses are sinking in Jakarta or my friends grandparents who are boiling to their deaths in Tokyo? Galling, imo
Agreed, pretty bad take from PBS here. Maybe the US has had some "expensive" disasters but things are downright lethal around the world. Heatwaves and floods in SE Asia for example are far more expensive in terms of lives lost.
I think a lot of people underestimate how climate catastrophe strike development states. I always felt like as development progresses the more complex society becomes. In the event of a catastrophe, the societal collapse would impact would be felt even more

The first MP to publicly announce running for leadership to replace Trudeau is Chandra Arya from Nepean, Ontario, and he has vowed to turn Canada into a sovereign republic.
He's sort of a chud but damn getting rid of the king is a bold move.

Bah you can't trust a damn thing any of the Libs say. They're happy to run as a "left wing/progressive" party promising the moon but as soon as they're in power it's austerity, union busting, and reneging on every promise they ever made.
If he gets voted in the first thing he'll do is swear fealty to the king and lick his boots
Or he'll keep his promise, remove Canada from Britain's grip, that way there's no legal conflict with the UK when he agrees to join the US. What's more sovereign a republic than the US of A, baby

it's so adorable when they come out with good ideas when they know they can't win the next election.
I suggest that they make even more promises at this point such as:
-Reforming the electoral system;
-Reparation for the first nation people;
-Build 1 trillion public housings;
-do Maoism;
This is the party that ran a candidate called Palestini in 2024 By-election who visited a mosque and was asked to leave when she said Israel has the right to defend itself.

Mainstream media in Canada is glossing over the role of far-right Ukrainian groups in acts of hate. Specifically, coverage of the recent appearance of swastikas on a southwest Winnipeg community centre have failed to acknowledge the presence and significance of the spraypainted “M.K.Y.” next to the hate symbols. MKY (or MKU) is an extreme-right accelerationist Ukrainian group that recruits online and encourages acts of racist acts of violence.

The president of Panama, Jose Raul Mulino, demanded the freedom of Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado and held the government of Nicolas Maduro responsible for her personal integrity.
President Mulino should explain why his running mate is still hiding inside the Nicaraguan Embassy. It would be pretty funny if Trump reestablished relations with Venezuela, and at the same time invaded Panama. These people are such puppets of the US, that even when the US goverment openly says they hate Panama and wants to invade, they still obey the orders the CIA gives them.

Nowaday, it's basically Christian (?) Pacifism. Historically, they are progressives but they also played a role in American Capitalist Development as a way to abolish slavery.

Bit idea: try to get NAFOs to agree that the Soviet invasion of Poland was good (which it was) because it restored Ukraine's territorial integrity after Poland illegally invaded and annexed parts of it.
If they try to disagree, ask them if Lviv/Lwów should be given back to Poland. If they say no, ask how Ukraine should have gotten that land back otherwise.

It must be weird for the Canadian and Danish governments to receive more steadfast public support from their sworn enemies Russia and Iran than from anyone else while the greatest threat to their territorial integrity comes from their "most important ally".
