Image is of a colectivo: an armed group, usually operating in impoverished areas, which act to support and defend the socialist government of Venezuela. They are often derided as vigilante terrorist groups which prop up the government, because cops are only bad when they are socialist and not murdering minorities, I suppose.

Maduro's party, the PSUV, has won the election after a staggering amount of propaganda by the opposition, who said their polls suggested they were going to win and that Maduro's loss was inevitable. The reaction across Latin America is what one would expect. Left-leaning leaders are generally respecting the results and congratulating Maduro, while those on the right and/or are US puppets (such as in semirecently-couped Peru) are calling for recounts, or even that the election was illegitimate. The US itself is also unhappy about the results. We shall soon see if their unhappiness boils over into yet another coup attempt.

Personally, I think they should have ran Guaido again.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful. Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

In a rare instance the succdem-led Danish regime has decided to do something that has the possibility to end up improving society somewhat. It is a planned reform of secondary education.

Today, after graduating from 9th or 10th grade, students can choose between different kind of high school and trade schools. High schools are for the more academically inclined and gives students access to attend "long" five-year university education or "medium-length" academy educations like teaching and nursing. Trade schools are more practical and students learn a trade by going back and forth between school and an apprenticeship.

For a long time there has been issues with this two-tier system, especially the trade schools. Trade schools require students to pick a trade very early which can be a big decision to make if you're just out of school. The early specialisation of trade schools also mean that students there does not experience the same youth milleu with parties and possibilities to socialise with peers that high school students have. This has some of the blame for high dropout rates. As there are many different kind of trades, students often find themselves having to commute for longer than high school students or even relocate. Finally, going to trade school and becoming a journeyman does not give you an easy way for further study if you decide you want to move in a more academic direction although some progress has been made with a programme that allows students to get a high school diploma and do an apprenticeship simultaneously. Trade schools has also suffered from classism and snobbery with people seeing high school as the right choice for intelligent young people.

The proposed reform seeks to remedy some of these discrepancies by creating a new form of secondary education that is directed towards the trades but is less specialised. Students will go to schools closer to home and with more students their own age. When they graduate they can choose between doing an apprenticeship or a "medium-length" education. Should they choose to go the academic route after all, a short supplementary course will allow them to go to university.

There are probably lots of devils in the details and the reporting on the proposal doesn't deal with issues like apprentices being tied to their employers, the lacking pedagogical skills of employers tasked with a lot of the practical education or the lack of a guarantee that you can get an apprenticeship that especially affect racialised minorities. However this seems like a move in the right direction.

Really funny seeing the Venezuelan opposition in the cold rain literally without anything to do. Honestly I was expecting more people than what the videos are showing.

Are there any reports on where the missile that hit Haniyeh came from? I would imagine Iraqi Kurdistan is the main suspected launch site, followed by Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

Maria Corina Machado, opposition leader, said that her coalition already has 84% of the electoral records from the presidential elections.

But she didn't post the correct fake results with 84% of the votes counted. She posted the one with 75% counted and they claim to no longer have 70% or 80% of the votes, but just 67 x maduro with 29.

In regard to Putin. Putin wasn't put in this position from his own will. He was forced into it.

Up until 2007-2008 he was the golden boy for the West(TM).

Putin though they were gonna let him (and Russia) in the club. He was gonna be one of the (imperialist) boys.

But West(TM) had other plans. The USA is not gonna let a country with 20k nuclear warheads become a member.

What if Russia starts having demands? USA can handle their little lapdogs (Germany, UK etc.) but a power like Russia?

So they played good old mediocre liberal boy Vlad like a fiddle all these years (he even admitted it in an interview, it was the one of the 4 hour long interview-address to the nation, last question from the audience for those that want to see it).

They were putting CIA NGOs all over the former USSR and its' satellites, they openly bribed politicians, they brought Poland into NATO, Czechia into NATO, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Croatia even the freaking Baltics right next to his border. They started shit in Georgia, they staged a coup in Ukraine that brought literal Nazis into the front that were killing ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine for years and it took an open and direct threat of turning the Black Sea into NATO sea to finally get him to do anything. And even after that, it took him 8 years to realize that they played him about the Minsk agreement too! Then it dawned on him that maybe they don't like him that much...

He keeps criticizing Lenin and Stalin but he is not good enough to clean their boots, while at the same time he has to draw from the legacy of USSR in order to keep the ship together because deep down he knows that was the best period in Russian history.

If today's Russian movements wants to win, they need to follow this line of thinking instead of tailing the liberals.

What I'm still afraid of is if USA does a U turn and starts shaking its' tail and playing friends to Russia, the liberal elite in Russia might still fall for it. There are still voices inside Russia that think friendship with USA is possible...

I don't know anything about Venezuela but the difference is baffling between what is said on Hexbear and what I see on Twitter (sorry), being Venezuelan teenagers drawing crying cartoon characters with their flag and writing threads about how Maduro isn't a real socialist and his army is killing people right now(?)

The Venezuelan electoral system, run by the CNE, is so reliable, and was so solid on election day, that the Machado opposition themselves are depending on it, or the idea of it, to derive voting data and then produce a result using their parallel Miami tally. (???)

  • The Venezuelan opposition won't present evidence because their intention is to generate doubt, not certainty
  • How can you have a parallel result to the CNE when you participated under the rules of the CNE?
  • They sang fraud long before even going to elections

I have seen this in both Bolivia and Brazil. Seems like the CIA got lazy and is just a reused coup plan that didn't work before.

On the topic of the PCV conflict with the PSUV, this is something I hadn't seen before:

Orinoco Tribune - 8/11/23 - Communist Party of Venezuela Expresses Solidarity With Far-Right Politician María Corina Machado

Article Text

As the road to the 2024 presidential elections moves forward, different political alliances that are being formed are becoming more and more transparent; this is especially clear in the solidarity shown by the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) towards the candidate for the far-right opposition primaries, María Corina Machado.

In a press conference held this Monday, August 7, the PCV asked the Attorney General’s Office to investigate the governor of Trujillo, Gerardo Márquez, for statements—allegedly aimed at María Corina—asking PSUV supporters in the city of Pampanito to condemn, with force if necessary, the presence of those calling for foreign intervention and illegal sanctions.

Maribel Díaz, leader of the PCV, called on Venezuela’s attorney general, Tarek William Saab, to initiate an investigation “into this act of violence, which is a disdain for democratic conduct.”

Following these statements, María Corina Machado herself thanked the PCV for its show of solidarity. She also added that in the “struggle for freedom and democracy, it is important that opposing opinions can coexist.”

It is worth remembering that the alleged link between María Corina Machado and the PCV is not something new; last month, it was reported that the far-right opposition candidate was allegedly paying the PCV to promote her for office.

Last July, the independent pre-candidate for the 2024 presidential elections, Luis Ratti, warned that María Corina Machado was paying the PCV. A few days later, PCV dissidents requested the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) to intervene in the PCV itself and to appoint an ad-hoc board of directors, under the premise of condemnation of irregular party elections.

The spokesperson for the PCV dissidents, Henry Parra, indicated that the current leadership does not hold up to the political project of the organization, alleging that the leadership of the PCV coincides with the postulates of the ultra-right wing that has been in charge of “oppressing” the Venezuelan people.

“We are an anti-imperialist political project, but today, the policy of this party is coinciding with the policy of oppression that [the imperialists] have against our people,” stated Parra. “We condemn, from an organic and political point of view, the political leadership that they have been influencing our communist party with, to approach the ultra-right view.”

My friend’s Venezuelan roommate is saying that his family is calling him and telling him Maduro was sending police to indiscriminately murder people last night at protests, and the police murdered some people in their neighborhood. What’re the possibilities this is true? I googled it and found nothing which is surprising because I feel like the media would eat that up

NYT:

Ismail Haniyeh, a top leader of Hamas, was assassinated on Wednesday by an explosive device covertly smuggled into the Tehran guesthouse where he was staying, according to seven Middle Eastern officials, including two Iranians, and an American official.

The bomb had been hidden approximately two months ago in the guesthouse, according to five of the Middle Eastern officials.

All of the officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to share sensitive details about the assassination.

In the interview, Lula da Silva said that he will recognize the result in Venezuela when the electoral records are released by the Venezuelan Goverment.

After note about Maduro, Lula says that PT does not need to ask him for permission. The head of the Executive was asked if the party had been hasty in releasing a note recognizing Nicolás Maduro's victory in the Venezuelan elections.

“I think the PT did what it had to do. The PT does not have to ask the government to do things. The PT is a party that has autonomy, although it is my party, it does not need to ask me for permission: 'Lula, can I do this?'. No. Do what you feel best doing. And the government does what it feels best doing”, said the president.

Was there any hard evidence of Iranian drones or cruise missiles being used in the previous strikes against Israel in April? I can't find even a shred of anything concrete. No wreckage or distinctive engine sounds caught on video.

I believe there were some videos from Iranian sources of drones launching, but that could have been intentional misdirection.

I remember there being some discussion that Israel might have exaggerated the size and scope of the attack in order to divert attention from the fact that some of the ballistic missiles got through.

Edit: I should have clarified that I was not referring to the normal usage, but rather the exceptions.

So the red flag has been raised six times, one was the murder of Soleimani and the most recent was current news.

All I’ve been able to find was that it was also raised for three COVID death milestones. Is that accurate or are those a different count?

It would appreciated if anyone could chime in if the missing sixth instance was a fourth Covid milestone or if it was something else. Or if the Covid ones aren’t included in the count and what the other 4 flag raising were.

Brian Nichols: "We reject calls by Maduro & his inner circle for the arrests of Venezuelan opposition leaders, Gonzalez and Machado. Venezuelans have the constitutional right to express their views freely & without reprisal. Actions to detain or arrest members of the democratic opposition show that lacking any evidence to back Maduro’s electoral claims, he resorts to repression."

The White House and State Department have spoken: They want Maria Corina Machado to administer Venezuela on their behalf and they’ll accept nothing else.

The Israel strike on Beirut was basically planned around getting drowned out by the vuvuzela coverage, right? Or am I being too conspiracy brained?
