doesn't really matter how intentional it was when you are this guy (article from 2004)

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/In-Modis-Gujarat-Hitler-is-a-textbook-hero/articleshow/868469.cms

AHMEDABAD: Gandhi is not so great, but Hitler is. Welcome to high school education in Narendra Modi''s Gujarat, where authors of social studies textbooks published by the Gujarat State Board of School Textbooks have found faults with the freedom movement and glorified Fascism and Nazism.

While a Class VIII student is taught ''negative aspects'' of Gandhi''s non-cooperation movement, the Class X social studies textbook has chapters on ''Hitler, the Supremo'' and ''Internal Achievements of Nazism''. The Class X book presents a frighteningly uncritical picture of Fascism and Nazism. The strong national pride that both these phenomena generated, the efficiency in the bureaucracy and the administration and other ''achievements'' are detailed, but pogroms against Jews and atrocities against trade unionists, migrant labourers, and any section of people who did not fit into Mussolini or Hitler''s definition of rightful citizen don''t find any mention." They committed the gruesome and inhuman act of suffocating 60 lakh Jews in gas chambers" is all the book, authored by a panel, mentions of the holocaust. The section on ''Ideology of Nazism'' reads: "Hitler lent dignity and prestige to the German government within a short time by establishing a strong administrative set up. He created the vast state of Greater Germany. He adopted the policy of opposition towards the Jewish people and advocated the supremacy of the German race. He adopted a new economic policy and brought prosperity to Germany. He began efforts for the eradication of unemployment. He started constructing public buildings, providing irrigation facilities, building railways, roads and production of war materials. He made untiring efforts to make Germany self-reliant within one decade. Hitler discarded the Treaty of Versailles by calling it just ''a piece of paper'' and stopped paying the war penalty. He instilled the spirit of adventure in the common people".

A few classes junior, students in Gandhi''s home state read that the Bapu really may have been overrated. In the chapter on ''Gandhian Era and National Movement'', there''s a section sub-headlined ''The Negative Aspect''.

the efficiency in the bureaucracy and the administration and other ''achievements'' are detailed

Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooool yeah the Reich was definitely not a farcical bureaucratic clusterfuck

brought prosperity to Germany

Woah. Terminal Wehraboo brainworms. Tragic.

He instilled the spirit of adventure in the common people

Technically true. That is a core thing in fascism. And that spirit of adventure lead them to fertilize the fields of Eastern Europe.

In india its all about hating each other that gives thrill to the common people it seems ! They be like there are immigrants among us , that we cannot see , so lets bring a bill and send those immgrants to concentration camps , since india does not give citizenship by birth since 1986 , they may force millions ( whoever they dont like , minorities , muslims , tribals ) to declare themselves immigrant and apply for citizenship by naturalization. Take away their voting rights and properties held by them ( that way the govt can capture tribal land). The sad part is they are already working on that !

BJPs predecessor organization literally had meetings with Mussolini and talked about how great fascist Italy was. Can't find the source sadly.

I doubt , since the parent org for bjp was founded in 1925 and they were small !

found it its this guy I think

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B._S._Moonje

In 1931, Moonje travelled to Italy, where he met with Prime Minister Benito Mussolini and was shown the militarization of society through a guided tour of organizations such as Balilla, the Accademia della Farnesina and other military schools and educational institutions. He visited the Italian Fascist youth organization the Opera Nazionale Balilla, which he praised.

Moonje was deeply influenced by these fascist organizations, in which he saw an opportunity to militarize Hindu society in order to fight against both internal and external threats. After returning from his Italy visit, he set up Bhonsala Military School in Nasik. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) later appropriated this model on a larger scale, and there is an uncanny similarity between the RSS and Balilla in terms of recruitment and organizational setup

Omg FR, he was affiliated to parent org of BJP ! dafaq !! While they blame the Indian liberal party for being fascist 😂 ( gaslighting at best)

With Modi I'm sure this was intentional, but I would like to point out that in a number of cultures "1,000 years" is used to refer to a very long period of time in a symbolic way. One example (also fashy) is "Banzai" in Japanese (and I just learned a few other SEA languages, albeit with their own spelling and pronunciation) directly translates to "10,000 years!" and is usually understood to mean an arbitrarily large number. Here's the wiki (with all the usual caveats about the Wiki often having questionable information about SE Asia)

Edit: Come to think of it English does this too, sometimes referring to old things lasting "for millennia".

I actually watched the original speech tho ! He was not saying it in a symbolic way !

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

This one's a bit of a stretch tbh.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

I would say it's plausible. India's version of Fascism has had a long history of being in communication with European fascism. It's certainly not definitive, and as I mentioned elsewhere using variations of "1,000 years" is common across many cultures, but it's also Modi.

I feel like variations of that quote in conjunction with climate change aren't rare.
