Dude knows how to run up a wall, so I hope they have a lot of razor wire at the top in whatever prison he's being sent to.

I do wonder if that's ever actually a legitimate concern for prison staffers, if they get an inmate that is exceptionally agile like this. Like, if a parkour champ gets locked up, do the guards take any additional precautions? Do they grease up all the walls and fences to make them extra hard to climb?

These, and other equally important questions, are what keep me up at night.

In Pennsylvania this last year a murderer escaped from prison by pressing himself again two opposite walls and climbing up. So I guess the answer is, no they don't take additional precautions.

Damn, must've sucked to get arrested for being murdered. No wonder he wanted to break out!

They probably hope all of the other security measures will make up for that one. I can't really think of another option. Even prisoners in solitary are let out for an hour a day.

Pascal Payet escaped prison by being picked up by a helicopter.

3 times.

Someone should really do something about all those rescue helicopters swarming around prisons like mosquitoes.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

I'm guessing by being picked up by a helicopter and by paying off every single guard in the prison.

A real parkour champ couldn't be caught in the first place. Check mate.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

Maybe the guards just administer some additional unprovoked beatings to the inmate to ensure they aren't in a physical state to parkour over the wall

I have a legitimate question.

Is this shit genetic?

Is there some line of fucking code in the brain that's just waiting for a certain level of popularity/wealth to kick in and make you wanna fuck children?

I'm legitimately curious because it happens so often and it just makes me think about how many simply haven't been caught.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

I think there's mainly 3 choices here , it could be that we've created a society where people with little to no empathy or regard for social norms excel. It could be that amassing so much wealth in our society requires people to adopt an ethical flexibility, and that flexibility eventually spills over into all aspects of their lives.

Or, it could be that morality and ethics are simply social construct that are quickly set aside as soon as society loses its ability to enforce its social mores.

All options appear to be not very groovy.

Given that child sex crimes were, in the past, largely a crime committed by people that were living in poverty, probably not. It's more likely that you get to a certain point of fame and money and think you can get away with it since you have so many people telling you 'yes' all the time. (This was--supposedly, purportedly--one of the reasons that nobility would have a jester; they needed someone to make fun of them so they weren't completely detached from reality.)
