PodBean has gotten shitter and shitter, randomly stopping play when not on screen.

Google has just announced its taking Podcasts out behind the woodshed so you can pay them for YouTube Premium to watch video podcasts in the background in your pocket.

I just want something simple, free or a one off purchase, that is friendly to copying Patreon feed links etc.

Suggestions appreciated, although I still don't relish the idea of refollowing 50+ feeds again.

Antennapod is what I've used for ages and it never really let me down.

Podcast Addict has kind of a clunky interface but it works fine once you get the hang of it

Second this

Another vote for podcast addict, it has too many settings but it also has every specific one you could want.

Yep, I've used Podcast Addict for over a decade at this point

Pocket Casts has always worked fine for me.

Yep, seconded. I have used it for years and it is great. It was $5 flat when I bought it. Well worth it for the silence skipping and playback speed stats alone.

Another vote for Pocket Casts.

But just a note here ... They've moved away from one time purchase to a subscription model. I myself use the free version but if you want bookmarks and chapters and what have you, you'll need to shell out.

I've been using podcast addict for years, no complaints. Free version does have a banner ad I think but one off purchase removes it.

Can PodBean export your subscriptions into an OPML file? Antenna Pod can import that. I used that to move between devices previously.

I use overcast.

I'm pretty happy with Podcini, it's FOSS and does all I need
Also supports importing lists of podcasts, though I'm not sure it does patreon feeds at all, you'd have to check

I really like Pocket Casts, though I’m not sure if it costs any money these days.

The free version is perfectly usable.

You need to buy an actual subscription if you want access to folders, bookmarks, chapters, etc.

Overcast if you’re on iOS. The very cheap premium even lets you upload your own audio files.

It has a “smart speed” feature that shortens silences and the time really adds up and lets you listen to a lot more things

No. Finding it in a browser then finding a way to download it gang checking in.

I use podkicker, which I don't really like using as the interface is a bit clunky, but it at least is reliable and free. And I can usually find whatever function I think should be there.

I've been self hosting audio book shelf and it is by far my favorite podcasting app.
