"Madonna wore a Jean Paul Gaultier bullet bra" is a 34 year old reference.
Ooooooh I just saw this comic was from 1992 and not today.
I thought Gary was reaching deep in the barrel for this'n.
Hello fellow Far Side fans!
About this community and how I post the comic strip… Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips and one of those was The Far Side. These days of course you find just about anything online including www.thefarside.com where they post several comics a day and I repost them here. Just to note, the date you see in my posts is not the initial release date, but the date they were posted on the website.
The Far Side is a single-panel comic created by Gary Larson and syndicated by Chronicle Features and then Universal Press Syndicate, which ran from December 31, 1979, to January 1, 1995 (when Larson retired as a cartoonist). Its surrealistic humor is often based on uncomfortable social situations, improbable events, an anthropomorphic view of the world, logical fallacies, impending bizarre disasters, (often twisted) references to proverbs, or the search for meaning in life… Read more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Far_Side
Hope you enjoy and feel free to contribute to the community with art, cool stuff about the author, tattoos, toys and anything else, as long it’s The Far Side!

Yeah, these posts really should have the original date
They do, on the comic itself.
The dates line up with the date they're posted to thefarside.com.
I think they're saying OP should edit the title to "22 March 1992".
I'm saying the date matches the date on the original source website. That's a simple copy/paste and could be automated, whereas reading the date from the comic would take more effort, and it's easy enough for people to find.
All of these comics are quite old though. The Far Side was active from 1980 - 1996, so all comics would be from that date range.
Ah, that explains it.
Why are the bubbles going downward?
Why are the bubbles going downward?
Gas under pressure?
Air forcefully leaving the inflatable raft.
There isn't air on the floor of a life boat
It's the air from the sky above the floor of the raft, obviously.
There isn’t air on the floor of a life boat
The inflatable double floor works as a good insulation from the cold ocean.
Inflatable.
You win! You outsmarted the comic.
Finally, fuck you Larsson, who's obtuse now?!?!
Nice. Lol
Thankfully they could just use Madonna as a flotation device
1987 called and wants their memes back.
That's about when this was drawn. It's a Far Side panel, not a meme
1987 called and wants their memes back.
Madonna hadn't even contacted Jean Paul Gaultier until 1989 and she didn't wear the bra this is a reference to until the Blond Ambition World Tour in 1990.
I am learnibg so much about Madonnas bra itt
1990 called 1992 and wants their comic back*
And then in 2024 it is posted to lemmy, you see it, and forget to read the "published" date and what a "comic" is.
