Devs hiring Azov guys to do voice work for the sequel and bragging about buying the abduction vans for conscripts really took away my positive feelings about the series

The devs are Ukranian and the comments had a lot of anti-russian sentiments on steam from what I recall.
The soviet union created the modern Ukrainian state but they would like to pretend nothing happened 1920-1990
