Retro handhelds should be perfectly good to use without Google play protect and Google play services. Retro handhelds play emulators. Should be good with something like Graphene and ideally go to regular Linux instead. Maybe with KDE Plasma Bigscreen

Assuming you meant drm free books

https://www.kobo.com/us/en/p/drm-free

Not every book on kobo is drm free from what I remember so keep an eye on that

It's like how the US can block mergers between companies that aren't based in the US. Companies want to operate in these markets. If a major regulator says no, they have two options. Remove themselves from the market the regulator that denies them regulates or spin off into multiple companies if that's actually possible operationally for the multiple companies to exist. Somalia regulators can block an acquisition in their country but that wouldn't change much for the company as Somalia has a small market and little international influencer. If China or the US or the EU say no, a company that wants to operate internationally will lose a huge market and will now have a way more difficult time doing business from other companies that operate multinationally

The best thing about their centos strategy changes was the creation of Alma Linux

I do not use it as my default text editor but I use it practically every working day. Plenty of times it's the only thing I have available to me. Pretty often vi is all I have to work with

It is impressive how I almost always hear about Claude stuff for paid programming services and never copilot. Normal search engine replacement stuff, I'll hear almost exclusively about people using ChatGPT and Gemini. Then people self hosting, I'll hear all the free stuff like Deepseek, Kimi, Qwen, ...

People just talk trash about copilot. I swear even Proton Lumo gets less heat and when people want upgrades, they're all urging Proton to add the latest Deepseek, Qwen, Kimi, etc models to their algorithm. Microsoft has got to have one of the most hostile to themselves customer base to be rivaled only by companies like Oracle

Tech writers consistently suck. We've had 3rd party app stores for a long time. Googles trying to make them worse, not welcoming them

Don't buy gearbox games. Pitchford is a self important head in the sands salesman. Along with Tim Sweeny, they're a couple of the most used car salesman types in gaming
