See also: Military spending

People freak out that China spends a lot on the military even though it’s still a lot less than the US spends, when if we’re using the US as a line for what’s reasonable China could justifiably spend 4 times as much as the US does on their military.

I said so many times in 2020 “Biden can and should have Trump assassinated, it’s a fun and legal thrill! The Supreme Court said so!”

I also maintain that I was correct to not vote for Joe Biden, and that we would be better off if Trump had won in 2020 rather than giving him an his people 4 years to regroup, get angrier, and get more senile, while also not fixing anything and ensuring a Trump victory in 2024.

And that was without predicting that Biden was actually Adolf Hitler and fucking loves doing genocide.

Baldurs Gate 3 constantly

Nearly at the end of my co-op game with my partner, just need to finish the steel watch, the house of hope, and cazador’s palace.

Also playing a single player game as Gale, about halfway through act 1 in that one

It’s such a good game

When I haven’t wanted to think enough to play BG3 I’ve been playing Control, it’s pretty fun, nothing spectacular though

It sucks so bad. I wasn’t trying to a dick like “Oh just look it up,” back when I looked into it it was very easy to find that information

We so quickly went from a world where so much information was easily available to one where it takes special skills and a lot of work to be able to sift through and actually find what you’re looking for.

Fuck, okay a couple years ago it was easy to look up, but search engines don’t work anymore

Lenin is probably the worst example they could’ve used too, like I think this idea could apply better to Marx than to Lenin

That’s not to say it applies to Marx either, just how Lenin’s writings are so prescient in the current moment, State and Revolution could’ve been written yesterday

Basically every fast food place is close to $15 as their minimum now anyway because if you offer the federal minimum wage you can’t staff a restaurant because that’s not enough money to afford food let alone rent

Which also means there is functionally no federal minimum wage currently

Any minimum wage passed now needs to be at least $20, $30-35 is what’s really necessary

Like, this isn’t a niche claim, this is a documented fact. ~~You can just look it up.~~ You used to be able to just look it up. Now search engines don’t work.

As unattractive as communism to women? I gotta say, putting a Lenin meme, a ☭, and “Let’s overthrow the ruling class together ❤️” in my Bumble bio did not cause me any trouble getting dates. It honestly seemed like a big plus.

Bicycle Advice (hexbear.net)

Hello friends my spouse and I are moving to a relatively bikeable town but neither of us currently own bicycles (on account of not wanting to die on a rural highway). I know nothing about bicycles except for how to ride one.

Anyone have advice on what we should be looking for for bikes?

Details:

Spouse will be biking to work most days, about 15 minutes. They have some disability issues though and I think an e-bike would be really helpful for them to make the ride easier.

I will be driving a long distance if and when I get a job, but would still like a bike for around town, on weekends, running small errands etc. Grocery store is about 10 minutes biking, it would be nice to do a good amount of grocery shopping on bike. Hopefully the next place we move I’ll be able to bike to work, in which case I’ll definitely want an E-Bike because I’m the sweatiest person alive, so would ideally want something I could retrofit to an E-Bike if that’s a thing you can do?
