I contend that there's a hellish hybrid of old jock and nerd demographics that fused together around the time the original XBOX and Halo came out, abandoning the sportsmanship and pretenses of traditional conduct of jocks and the old ideals of inclusiveness and tolerance-to-a-fault of nerds.

Thank fuck for furries though, they are radically inclusive and make that the forefront of the fandom which is perfect for preventing the hobby from being gentrified.

The normalized and near-universal hatred of furries from heated-gamer-moment , weebs, and other "socially acceptable" basic internet people in some ways tempered the demographic against most chud intrusions.

Most.

There's some fucked up corners of it (nazi furs are a thing) but they're mostly kept at bay, so I hear (kicked out of conventions).
