Resources For Understanding The War
Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.
Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

maybe this is indefensible but I wish al jazeera would stop airing so much atrocity porn. I know what cutting off power and water and medicine to millions of people means I know what bombing refugees entails, it's maddening that the world's "humanitarian community" apparently needs to be shown hour after hour after hour of somber pans over dead children and clips of screams from operating rooms and interviews with terrified dialysis patients to be convinced of the stakes. just tell me wtf is going on. anyone who still actually needs to see video of all of this ghastly suffering to change their minds about anything is not human. alj is making television for demons
The reason why Israel and the US panicked when the hospital was blown up was because the footage of severed heads and arms strewn about was so shocking it threatened to turn complacent and complicit people against Israel.
Maybe Al Jazeera doesn't need to air all that, but it does need to be aired and no other media with AJ's US penetration is. We need people to feel about this, not just think about this.
Well, it's for an english-speaking audience, so...
Please don't feel obligated to watch all of it. Your intimate personal knowledge of the horror will only drive you insane and won't change anything on the ground. I'm glad they're recording and collecting it in the same way I'm glad that atrocity museums exist. Just because they're posting it doesn't mean you have to absorb it all.
