dates back to before we removed downvotes from the site
I can't remember if the emoji existed before that, but that was the old downbear icon. I vaguely recall the arrows being changed around to different things for a while, including the up and down bear icons.
yeah, i don't see any real benefit to voting on comments in general, but removing downvotes at the very least encourages discursive engagement.
Absolutely. I get that they're "just downvotes" but honestly their very existence would make the comments and discussions more fraut with people getting offended and heated.
Let people reply instead.
